We are an independent Christian Church historically connected to Congregationalism. Founded in 1875, our Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. We are located in Roscommon, Michigan which is a small village in Northern Lower Michigan. We are a rural resort community and are blessed to have an abundance of natural beauty including, lakes, rivers, and forests. The area has excellent local medical facilities, schools, and a community college. We are open to full-time, part-time, and bi-vocational candidates. A parsonage is provided, salary is negotiable based on experience and employment status. (Full or Part Time)
Position Summary
Our church is committed to the faithful teaching of the scriptures, supporting missions, and reaching out to our community in the name of Jesus. We are seeking a pastor who will minister to our current congregation and who will also foster and encourage continued growth.
Essential Duties
Preaching and Teaching the Word of God:
- Prepare and deliver relevant, Spirit filled weekly sermons
- Lead Adult Sunday School
- Mentor, support and/or lead Bible Studies
Care and Outreach:
- Visit and comfort the sick, shut-in, and bereaved
- Officiate special services; baptisms, weddings, funerals, infant dedications, etc.
- Giving of the Sacraments
- Provide Christian counseling/guidance commensurate with education and training attained
- Community engagement in interfaith activities, service projects/organizations and outreach
Overseeing the Church:
- Organization and execution of the weekly corporate worship service
- Be a church member and support Diaconate Board, Trustee Board, Prudential Board
- Work with Christian Education Board, Missions Committee and other groups as needed
- Collaborate with church leaders to ensure effective operations, planning, and administrative aspects of the church.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated Biblical and theological knowledge
- Must be a Christian role model who demonstrates the fruits of the Spirit
- Gift of preaching and teaching with power, clarity, and spiritual authority
- Strong people skills with the ability to promote teamwork and collaboration
- Ability to effectively communicate, connect and build rapport with all generations
- Prefer experience and education, but we are flexible. Passion for the Lord and teaching from the scriptures are the most important qualifications
