Outreach Community Ministries
Outreach Community Ministries, Inc (OCM) is the parent organization of the following community services: Wheaton Youth Outreach, Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream, Warrenville Youth and Family Services, and York Community Resource Center. Our mission is to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be; partner with the local church to put Christian faith into action through service to the community. Our mission focus is serving the most vulnerable children, teens and families in DuPage County.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include supervising elementary school students in an after-school program setting in educational curriculum, Christian education, skill building, problem solving and recreational activities. Responsibilities also include supervising students in an e-learning setting by providing academic support. Class size averages between ten and fifteen students. This position reports to the lead staff member at the appropriate site.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Previous classroom teaching or group experience with elementary school students is required. Candidates must have sensitivity to the needs from culturally diverse students from low to modest income, high-risk families. A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required. Some early childhood education or elementary education coursework preferred. Spanish/English language skills a plus.
Status:
Part-time, temporary employment. Schedules vary slightly from site to site during the academic year. After-school program schedules have the earliest start time of 1:00pm and latest end time of 6:30pm. E-learning support schedules have the earliest start time of 7:30am and latest end time of 1:00pm.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is $14.
