Associate Pastor of Students and Families Job Description

Northern Heights Baptist Church in Norfolk, Nebraska is a growing and thriving church. We are a Word driven church passionate about God’s glory, His Gospel and extending His Kingdom. We are a highly relational church with a heart for true discipleship and incorporating our Spanish Ministry into the overall life of the church. We are currently seeking an Associate Pastor of Student and Family Ministries. We have a great desire to implement a strategy that partners with families to ensure we equip, make, mature, and multiply the next generation of disciples of Christ. We are looking for that individual who will help us to get there. This position is a full time position, with a very competitive salary package. This person will work closely with other pastoral staff and ministry leaders to lead/shepherd families.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

  •  Serving primarily as the lead Student Ministry Pastor for the 7 through 12 grade Student Ministry. (80%)

  •  He will also oversee the children’s ministries from Birth to 6th grade. We do not expect this individual to be “hands on” in children’s ministry. We have great capable persons in place and just need someone to oversee and provide oversight, direction, encouragement, training and mentoring to children ministry leaders and volunteers of our children's ministries. (20%)

  •  The ideal candidate will have a heart for discipleship, sound doctrine, relationships and will enjoy working collaboratively with other leaders as a team to see disciples made.

  •  Excels at leading and developing leaders and delegating tasks.

  •  Knows how to assemble teams, enjoys collaborative ministry and thrives in a team

    setting and is a good team player.

  •  Has credibility with parents and is knowledgeable about the challenges they face.

  •  Can bring fresh thinking to the ministries he is responsible for.

  • ●  Has a passion for God, His Word and helping people grow in their faith.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • ●  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

  •  Seminary Degree preferred.

  •  Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of experience.

    REPORTS TO:

    This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor. And this person should be philosophically aligned with the pastor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person will work with a team of volunteers as they develop passionate Christ-followers by addressing the specific challenges of demographics consisting of birth through student ministry ages. This person will also serve as a member of the Strategic Leadership team of NHBC and work to fulfill and champion the Vision and Mission of Northern Heights Baptist Church. All ministries of the church function within the framework of the larger church vision. The Associate Pastor of Students and Families will creatively and passionately implement that vision in a manner relevant to, and effective with, children, students, and family populations. They will be relationally driven and theologically savvy as ministries are heavily driven by relationships and doctrinal integrity within large group environments, small groups, serving teams, and the church family as a whole.
