We are a small but vibrant Evangelical Free Church of about 50 people from various nations located about five miles from Boston. We are committed to making disciples for Jesus both here and around the world. Our church is somewhat like a big family characterized by our love for one another. One of our main ministries is teaching English as a Second Language.
We are looking for a godly man to assist the Lead Pastor and Elders with the basic shepherding and oversight of the church. Duties would include teaching and occasional preaching (about once a month), and some or all of the following: leading worship, children/youth ministry, college and community outreach, teaching ESL and occasional counseling. Although some experience is preferable, this could possibly be a good position for someone just out of seminary looking to gain experience in a number of areas of ministry.
Qualifications: Meets requirement for an Elder in 1 Tim.3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9; M.Div. preferred (would consider BA in Pastoral Ministry or the equivalent also), Agrees with the EFCA Statement of Faith (efca.org), Holds to the complementarian view regarding the roles of men and women as well as to the biblical views of gender, sexuality and marriage (one man, one woman for life) without reservation, Holds to creationism not theistic evolution, A team player- can handle differences of opinion on ministry and other issues peaceably and in a mature manner, Comfortable working in a small church environment, A humble servant leader- willing to get his hands dirty if necessary (in a small church you might be called to shovel snow, take out the trash or take someone to a doctor's appointment. ) Compensation- Nice housing (we will purchase a property with the pastor's input for him to live in for free), health care and a salary.
