The Role: Adult Ministries and Teaching Pastor

Eastern Hills Bible Church is a multi-generational, 50-years young, non-denominational church rooted in Manlius, NY, comprising people from communities across the greater Syracuse area. On any given Sunday, you’ll find those who have been attending for fifty years (yes, it’s true!) and those who have only been in attendance for a few weeks. We are known in the community for our generosity, partnerships with local nonprofits, and creating environments where those who are disconnected from Christ experience connection in Christ.
About the Adult Ministries and Teaching Pastor:
Eastern Hills Bible Church is seeking someone who will thrive in their ability to help people become fully engaged in Christ, at church, and on mission. He will be experienced in equipping leaders and comfortable with a teaching style that is helpful and hopeful. They will be committed to excellence and value the importance of irresistible environments.
The Adult Ministries and Teaching Pastor Responsibilities Include:
Develops and oversees onramps that help people become fully engaged, including but not limited to church membership and baptism.
Responsible for recruiting, caring for, and developing high-capacity leaders to lead groups.
Provides oversight for all content in adult ministries.
Serves on the Teaching Team to help develop weekly messages and teaches in worship services approximately 15 times per year.
Shares congregational care with other pastors.
Creates and manages assigned departmental budgets.
Establishes a regular rhythm of care and support for direct reports, including annual 360 performance reviews and trimester OKRs (Objective-Key-Results) to measure growth initiatives.
What You Bring:
Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
A Biblical degree is preferred.
At least 3 years of experience in Adult Ministries and Teaching is required.
At least 3 years of experience in leading a church of 800 or more with similar responsibilities as this role is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Meets the New Testament qualifications of an elder.
Agreement with policies outlined in the employee manual.
Theological alignment with EHBC.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency Planning Center Online & Google Suite.
Personally lives the mission of our church.
Personal Characteristics & Qualifications
A growing relationship with Christ.
A learner and open to input.
Enjoys mandatory fun.
Described by peers as relatable, passionate, and humble.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
