What is the Serge Apprenticeship Program?
The Serge Apprenticeship Program is an 18-24 month intensive missions training program that provides an opportunity to serve on an existing ministry team and grow in the gospel. Through ministry service, 1-on-1 mentorship, cross-cultural training, and a lifestyle of prayer, the Apprenticeship Program raises up future long-term ministry workers who are thoughtful, prayerful, and sustainable. Our vision for the Middle East
The Middle East region is home to some of the least-reached countries on earth. Many people in the Middle East have never met a Christian. In some places the evangelical church numbers in the mere hundreds. In others, they’re forced to meet secretly.
Our work in the Middle East focuses on a wide array of sectors. From social enterprise and entrepreneurship to counseling and non-profit development work, long term Serge teams in the Middle East aim to be a blessing to their communities and be a faithful witness to our Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to restore broken people, equip local churches and believers, and reach those who have not known the love of Christ.
What does an Apprenticeship in the Middle East look like?
· Work and live in a large city in the Middle East
· Study the local language and grow in cultural literacy
· Engage in Business for Transformation work through accounting, sales, business, marketing, or product design
· Pursue relational ministry with friends, neighbors, and colleagues
· Process and grow through 1-on-1 mentoring with a seasoned missionary
Who is the Apprenticeship in the Middle East for?
- Followers of Jesus who are becoming Christ-dependent, Spirit-empowered, and passionate for the Kingdom of God – at home and abroad
- Those who are considering long-term international ministry
- College graduates OR individuals with two years of independent living behind them
- Ordinary individuals or couples who aren’t afraid to ask questions
- Those who are prepared to be stripped down of what they understand about themselves and the cultures they have been and will be involved in
- Servant leaders who are desiring to be a part of a community and team
- People who are willing to be flexible and have a learner posture
- Those who are willing to grow as front-line learners, risk-takers, friendship-builders, and proclaimers of the good news
Language requirements: None prior to arrival, but you will study the local language during your Apprenticeship.
Support Raising
As a Serge Apprentice, you are paid a salary. Apprentices are required to raise 100% of their salaries, ministry expenses, and administrative expenses to serve overseas. The amount you need to raise can vary significantly depending on the country of service, marital status, experience, and job requirements.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a Support Coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process, with regular calls for check-ins and prayer. We know it can be daunting, but we also believe there’s no better way that the Lord prepares us for the field. You can expect challenges and growth in this journey, but you can also expect a dedicated mentor along the way. You will never be walking it alone.

At Serge, we believe we need the gospel as much as anyone else. It was while doing cross-cultural, team-oriented ministry that we discovered how challenging it is to be grounded in a biblical identity as sons and daughters of God—so, we began to develop discipling resources to preach the gospel to ourselves – so that we could go into the broken places of our world to reach souls, renew hearts and restore communities.
