Next Generation Residency
The 6:4 Fellowship
Descriptive Proposal
Ministry
Strategic Renewal International (SRI) exists to serve the local church by helping pastors succeed God’s way. Through an extraordinary commitment to the priorities of prayer and the ministry of the Word, SRI and the 6:4 Fellowship catalyze praying Christians who support praying pastors who lead praying churches into supernatural Gospel impact (cf. Acts 6:1-7, esp. vs. 4). SRI and 6:4 Fellowship are driven by Scripture’s emphasis on healthy local-church leadership, the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit, and the pursuit of cultural transformation.
The purpose of the 6:4 Residency is to raise up a new generation of pastoral leaders with integrity, conviction, biblical wisdom, realistic expectations, and exceptional spiritual passion to lead Christ’s church into powerful renewal.
Need
Prayerlessness, Scriptural infidelity, and leadership failure mar the character of the American Church today. Church leaders are distracted, diluted, and discouraged for lack of spiritual health and clear priorities. The true gospel of grace and truth has been diminished. Renewal in heart, passion, and leadership is needed to reinvigorate Christ’s Body.
Opportunity
Raise up a new generation of faithful, reliable, and Spirit empowered leadership for the church in America by creating a rigorous pathway – a Residency program – to fully qualify and equip pastors to lead biblically, growing their congregations into spiritual vitality: To love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, (Luke 12:30, Mark 12:30).
Strategy
· Residents: The Residency is designed for post-seminary graduates to provide “the other 50%” of necessary pastoral preparation,1 complementing their formal training. Potential candidates are current 2nd or 3rd year seminarians and those within three years of their seminary graduations. Resident Cohorts are recruited annually (10-25 per year). They are men with academic acumen, stellar integrity, relational authenticity, and marked by a deep longing for the church to return to her ancient foundations in order to lovingly confront a modern world. (Exhibit A)
· Host Churches: Existing 6:4 Fellowship churches will welcome a Resident to a one-year (minimum) staff position and see that he is mentored in such a way to embed in him the
life practices of a praying church. These Residents will emerge, further qualified and equipped in heart and mind for the rigors demanded in pursuing God’s priorities for church leaders.
· Curriculum: Residents will follow a common, yet flexible and individualized curriculum and assessment methodology to assist them in fully preparing for the work of renewing churches. (Exhibit B)
· Placement: Following the Residency year, Residents will, ideally, be placed into strategic, established churches or promising church plant opportunities to implement the Acts 6:4 vision, leading their fellowships into deep spiritual renewal and growth.
Outcomes
· Residents gain invaluable experience in fulfilling the requirements of the yearlong 6:4 Residency curriculum, ministry assignments, and assessment portfolio. This will lead to confidence in the Lord, in His Word, and in His gifting of each Resident.
· Establish and confirm 10-25 men with integrity proven in the context of daily life and ministry. This will be evidenced by the development of a disciplined spiritual life, balance of family and ministry life and self-understanding. These will become men of relational maturity who are genuinely committed to the personal and corporate priority of prayer as the catalyst for discipleship, evangelism, and missions.
· Sharpen men (Residents and their 6:4 Fellowship mentors) in the crucible of an intentional yearlong relationship (Proverbs 27:17).
· Refine the Residents’ ability and giftedness to communicate the Word of God with clarity and authority and proving their leadership acumen in guiding others in Scripture-fed, Spirit-led, worship-based prayer.
· Begin the development of new generation leaders who will serve as models and catalysts for the much-needed renewal of the church.2

College graduates
Followers of Jesus who are becoming Christ-dependent, Spirit-empowered, and passionate for the Kingdom of God — at home and abroad
Ordinary individuals who aren’t afraid to ask the questions, “What does it look like to lay down my life?” “What is my purpose?” and “How do I remain faithful to following Jesus for the long term?”
Believers who set aside their own cultural trappings in order to see the beauty of God as expressed in other cultures
People living out their calling to BE as well as their calling to DO, propelled by the grace of God with a posture of faith, hope and courage for the Gospel
Servant leaders immersed in an Irish ministry context which results in a community of mutual support, encouragement and hope
What Your Apprenticeship in Ireland Will Include
Teaching: (1) Exploring the significance of God given passions, interests and gifts in the discovery of one’s purpose and destiny to influence others and society for the glory of God. (2) Cross cultural ministry training. Boulevard Presbyterian Church
Pastoral Residency
About Boulevard
“Behold, I am making all things new.” God speaks these words of promise in Revelation 21; it’s a glimpse at where God is taking the story of our world. The church’s mission is to proclaim the Gospel (“good news”) of this cosmic renewal through Christ and to make it evident by following Jesus to make disciples and to love God and neighbor. At Boulevard we strive to play our part in that vision in the Greater West Side of Chicago. We seek to be a place of rest, honesty, healing, service, and joyful celebration in Christ. We gather in Oak Park for worship every Sunday, and we also have a storefront office in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Our congregation comprises people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures from Oak Park, Austin, Cicero, Galewood, Berwyn, Forest Park, River Forest and beyond.
In history, the word ‘boulevard’ was first used to refer to the fortifying walls that surrounded medieval cities. However, as those walls came down, the same word came to reference what we think of as boulevards today: tree-lined ways which offer beauty, rest, and connection in the urban landscape. The boulevard is an illustration of what Christ is doing in our world through the church: bringing peace where there is division, forgiveness and transformation where there is wrong, life where there is death. Also, in our context, Austin Boulevard is where city meets village, a line intersecting diverse histories, races, resources and cultures. Our church is committed to loving and serving the peoples around the Boulevard, knowing that Christ is “our peace, who has made us one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility” (Ephesians 2.14).
Our expressed values include Gospel, Celebration, Learning, Neighborhood, Hospitality, Gospel Reconciliation, and Partnership. You can read more about it on our website (blvdpres.org).
We are a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). We began in September 2017 as a church plant of two congregations on the Northside of Chicago, Covenant Pres and Lincoln Square Pres.
About the Pastoral Residency at Boulevard
Boulevard is committed to investing in people preparing for vocational ministry. The Pastoral Residency Program at Boulevard Presbyterian Church is designed to expose residents to pastoral work and life and the dynamics of church planting, in a supportive context in which we walk alongside residents in discipleship and in exploring their call to pastoral ministry. The residency is a one-year mutual commitment. Renewal of that for additional time can be considered at the end of the year. The number of hours expected of each resident will be determined on a case-by-case basis, but usually ranges from 5 to 15 hours per week. A stipend is provided for each resident. We have capacity for up to three residents at any time.
The residency consists of three elements:
A regular meeting with other residents and the pastor to discuss assigned readings and relevant issues of church, ministry, and faith.
At least one area of ministry which the resident oversees. This will be determined with time based on the resident’s gifting and the congregation’s current need.
Experience across the wide variety of ministries and responsibilities required of pastors and church planters. This includes: leading liturgy on Sunday, occasional preaching and teaching, connecting with congregants and community members relationally, outreach, church admin, finances, and leadership development.
How To Apply
We are always eager to connect with people who are exploring a call to ministry at whatever stage they are at: just starting to explore the idea, already in seminary, or have graduated from seminary and looking for a pastoral call. In particular, we are committed to investing in people pursuing ordination in our denomination (the PCA) and investing in people of color; however, neither of these is a requirement for applying.
If you are interested in applying for or learning more about the Pastoral Residency at Boulevard, please contact Pastor Jeff Schneider (jeff@blvdpres.org). The application consists of three parts: a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the position, a description of your journey in the Christian faith, and a resume of educational, ministry, work, and other relevant experiences.

Chinese Christian Fellowship Church
Wilmette, IL, USA
Chinese Christian Fellowship Church in Wilmette, IL is in search of their next Pastor of Family Ministries. This person will be responsible for creating a team-based ministry to provide leadership and oversight to the children’s ministry, the youth ministry, and parent-oriented ministries. This work will foster intentional discipleship relationships within these various age-group ministries.
Chinese Christian Fellowship Church is a non-denominational Christian church located in Wilmette, Illinois. The church is represented by two congregations: The Chinese Ministry (CM) and the English Ministry (EM). The average attendance of the Chinese Ministry is 130. The church recognizes its youth demographic is emerging in both size and need and sees the value for ministry in this area.
Wilmette, Illinois, is a suburb approximately 14 miles north of downtown Chicago. It is consistently ranked one of the best places to live in the U.S. due to a variety of factors including low unemployment rate, median income, low housing vacancy, high education expenditure and low crime rates. Wilmette enjoys many suburban features while also having a proximity to Chicago and its large city and cultural amenities.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate for their love of Christ and their love for the development of spiritual maturity for young people. We are also looking for someone who is prepared to navigate the challenges of an ethnic, yet multi-generational environment to practice their ministry.
