Grace Community Church Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE IN...
1. The one true God who lives eternally in three persons - the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit.
2. The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming, and judging the world.
3. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God - fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
4. The dignity of all people, made male and female in God s image, to love, be holy
and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgment.
5. The incarnation of God s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ - born of the virgin
Mary; fully divine and fully human, yet without sin.
6. The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price
of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
7. The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection, his ascension
to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Savior of the world.
8. The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
9. The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with
Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
10.The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers - given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit s gifts to bring glory to God, edify the community of believers, and proclaim the gospel.
11 .The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfill the purposes of God,
raising all people to judgement, bringing eternal life to the redeemed and establishing a new heaven and new earth.

Church History
Grace began in the living room of Steve and Karen Lawson in April of 1999. For several years prior, Steve and Karen had been wrestling with God's call to lead a church that sought authenticity with God and other believers. We continue to pursue radical Grace rather than legalistic religion.
Grace has been set up since, its beginning as an Elder-led church. Typically the senior pastor and three laymen serve as the elder board. Elders, together with the installed pastor serving under a call, are to have supervision of the church entrusted to them. They are set apart for a ministry of watchful and responsible care for all matters relating to the welfare and good order of the church. They are to study God s Word, to oversee the household of faith, to encourage spiri- tual growth, to maintain loving discipline, and to provide for the proclamation of the gospel and the celebration of the sacraments. They have oversight over the conduct of the members of the congregation and seek to bring that conduct into conformity with the Word of God, thereby empowering all members to live out their Christian vocation in the world. Elders exercise an oversight over the conduct of one another and of the pastor/s. Our current elders are JJ Skinner, Alan Hempstead, and Andy Yates.
Grace has grown from those few people on living room couches to a dynamic, diverse body with ministries for men and women, students, and children. We serve God's kingdom locally and abroad with Outreach Partners in Central Asia, Colombia, Burkina Faso, Vancouver, a Nepalese community in Houston , and throughout the globe through pastoral and leadership training.
In 2000, we moved into our present building, although we only occupied about a fourth of it. God blessed us with the entire building a few years later. We expanded again in 2012 providing more space for children and student ministries and expanding and modernizing the Worship Center.
2015 brought new changes and opportunities. Steve transitioned to a broader ministry outside of our local congregation. Adam Brind stepped into the role of senior pastor, a position for which God had been preparing him for many years. His commitment to God's centrality in our lives and the integrity of Scripture encouraged us to grow and mature as a community. Even now, after Adam s departure, we continue to pursue God together. As a church body we are excited about how God will lead us to bless each other, our community, and the world.
