Greetings from the Dewey Community Church,

After 13 years of ministry, our Youth Pastor has resigned his position in order to give leadership to a non-profit, parachurch ministry. As a result, our congregation is seeking to fill the position of a full-time, Associate Pastor for Youth Ministry. You are receiving this communication because we are inviting your assistance in publicizing the position.

The Dewey Community Church is located in Dewey, IL which is 13 miles north of Champaign, Il. We are located in what would best be described as a small-town, rural area. And while agriculture plays a prominent role in both our church and community, our proximity to Champaign affords many opportunities for employment and recreation.  The congregation (average Sunday morning worship attendance is 120 people) consists of a diverse group of people in terms of ages and occupations. The youth group (Grades 6-12) currently draws approximately 40-50 students from the church and community at Wednesday evening ‘DewCrew’ gatherings. Along with the DewCrew ministries, the congregation has additional children’s and youth ministries including Bible Quizzing (Grades 7-12) and basketball (Grades 1-6) and volleyball (Grades 5-8) ministries.

The Dewey Community Church is a member congregation of the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches whose Resource Center is located in Fort Wayne, IN. Information about the FEC can be accessed at their website (www.fecministries.org). In addition, the Statement of Faith which guides both our denomination and our local congregation can be viewed on the FEC website https://fecministries.org/about/our-beliefs/articles-faith/

We will provide a  copy of the job description for the position of Associate Pastor for Youth Ministries. If you know of anyone currently seeking a position in youth ministry, we would invite you to pass this information along to them. Questions and inquiries regarding the position and application process can be made to search@deweychurch. org.

 Blessings in Christ,

Ben Harrison, Search Committee Chairman and  Neal Hauser, Senior Pastor
