LakeView Church is a growing EFCA congregation in Stoughton, WI. We've got an energetic, dynamic team that is serious about worship, prayer, the Word, and genuine discipleship. We're looking for a full-time Next Generation Pastor to join our team and help us come alongside families as we seek to follow Jesus for the glory of God and the common good.
Our aim is…
To be an Acts church. We aspire to be like the first Christians described throughout the Book of Acts. We want to be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit to be unapologetically devoted to God’s Word, worship, the fellowship, ministries of mercy, and prayer, in the context of gathering for worship and scattering to meet in homes as we spur one another on to our next step with Christ.
To follow Jesus with our head, heart, and hands. We aspire to be a church family where God is known both intellectually and personally—where the love of Christ is not just a concept, but a firsthand experience that changes lives. We long to see the power of God displayed in our midst through miracles, healing, life transformation, wisdom, and prophecy. We desire to be drenched in God’s love, filled to overflowing so that His love floods from our heads to our hearts and out through our hands as love-in-action.
To have emotionally healthy leadership. We aspire to establish leadership teams that are full of trust, love, respect, humility, transparency, and submission to Christ. We will work to minimize pride, insecurity, boasting, power-grabbing, control, micromanaging, and other symptoms of emotional immaturity. We believe that we cannot become spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature; and that having leaders who are both emotionally and spiritually healthy will result in an emotionally healthy spirituality within our church family.
To practice next steps discipleship. We aspire to be growing disciples of Jesus. We believe a disciple is someone who is actually following Jesus, even if they’re the last one in line! Spiritual growth is not a program, class, or event. Nor is it a onesize-fits-all manufacturing process. It is a lifelong pursuit of following Jesus—one step at a time. Thus, the most important step a person can take is the next one.
To have true relationships. We aspire to be a church where our love for one another and others who visit is sticky and shared. We believe that disciples are made in the context of intentional, authentic relationships. Programs don’t make disciples; people do. Thus, we don’t just attend—we belong. LakeView is our spiritual home, and we are members of the family.
To practice come-and-see-evangelism. We aspire to see God’s love to so permeate our church family that we are excited about God and our church, and we naturally invite others to come and see for themselves what God is doing in and among us. We believe it is the presence of the Holy Spirit, the authenticity of our fellowship, the clear application of God’s Word, the sincerity of our worship both inside and outside the walls of our building, and the power of God in our midst, that will draw people like moths to a flame through word-of-mouth-growth.
To live on mission. We aspire to work together for strategic and evangelistic service in our local communities and around the world. Missions includes partnering with missionaries and gospelcentered parachurch ministries. We also believe every disciple of Jesus is called to be a fisher of people—to live as ministers and missionaries in their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and every other context, for the glory of God and the common good.
