Position title:  Full-time Pastor

This is a previously existing position.

Why is it open?  Former pastor of 10-½ years semi-retired to relocate near family.

What are the major responsibilities of the position?  All public & regular services of the church; teaching/preaching; training church leaders; administering ordinances of baptism & communion; advising & serving on the elder board; love and care of the church body.

Denomination/Affiliation: Conservative, independent, Bible-teaching church with loose ties to the Rocky Mountain Church Network (Venture Church Network)

Special features:  The church building, which is located one block from the University of Wyoming's dormitories, has a main floor and basement with about 5,500 sq. ft. on each level.  It is ADA accessible.  On the main level, there is a foyer, sanctuary, family room, pastor's office, smaller staff office, church office and library, one large and one small Sunday school classroom, and restrooms. In the basement, there is a kitchen, fellowship hall, one large teen room, nursery, toddler classroom, unspecified classroom, four small classrooms, an Awana office, storage room, and restrooms.  The church also owns a small rental house.  The church has no indebtedness. 

We have hosted an Awana Program for more than 40 years with assistance from believers of other churches.

More information on location/community:  Cheyenne, WY is 48 miles to the east; Fort Collins, CO is about 67 miles to the south; Denver, CO is about 140 miles to the south.  Laramie is at an elevation of 7200 feet and has abundant hunting, fishing and other recreational activities near it, including a city recreation center, National Forest lands and a ski resort.

Laramie is home to Wyoming's only four-year college, the University of Wyoming.  It is also home to Wyoming Technical Institute [automotive & diesel] and a branch of Laramie County Community College.  Outlying areas are rural ranches for the most part.

Because of the colleges and technical institute, the town's population has a very large number of younger adults.  Many individuals, couples and families are only in Laramie while they attend one of the colleges or the tech school and even those teaching in the educational sector are mobile owing to career opportunities.

The church is a “cradle to grave” type church.

Elder Board:  The pastor is considered a voting member of the board in addition to a minimum of 4 others.

Qualifications for candidates [Strengths]: An expository teacher of the Word whose messages include grace-oriented encouragement and application to our lives; a leader who can inspire both the church body and individuals to a close walk with God and who is aware of the need for discipling others; a loving shepherd with a compassionate heart for those in his flock, as well as for the unsaved; prayerful; a counselor when needed; a man with a heart for reaching college-age adults.
