The Oxford Bible Church is in need of a Solo Pastor who has a love for the inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient Word of God and for preaching and teaching God’s Word. We prefer a preaching style that is expository in nature (verse by verse through books of the Bible). The pastor will need to perform all duties related to the pastoral position. Our former pastor of 24 years passed away from Covid-19 on November 27, 2020. Our church has been in existence since 1936. We have been a member of the IFCA since 1943 and are in complete agreement with the IFCA International’s doctrinal statement.
We are located in Oxford, Wisconsin, a village with approximately 600 residents. Our school system, which has received an academic achievement award, consists of an elementary school in town (4K-6th grade) and a junior and senior high school 12 miles away (busing is available). The village also has a Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Seventh Day Adventist church.
Oxford is in west central Marquette County and is within 50 minutes of Madison, 30 minutes of Wisconsin Dells, and 40 minutes of Stevens Point; Baraboo and Portage are nearby. Medical facilities are located in Portage, Baraboo, and Madison.
Our weekly services consist of Sunday School and a morning worship service; attendance for worship averages 70. The style of worship is traditional, singing mostly hymns with a few choruses once in a while. Our church is made up of people from many vocations: some entrepreneurs, a few farmers, and many retirees. Most people attending are 50-80 years of age, coming from up to 25 miles away. Our main outreach programs are AWANA for children kindergarten-high school and Vacation Bible School.
The pastor is the only paid position in the church. One person takes care of many secretarial duties. Volunteers take care of the sound system and recording of worship services. One person serves as our pianist.
We are a church that is run by a Board which is made up of 3 Elders, 3 Deacons, our Church Clerk, and our Church Treasurer, with the pastor serving as chairman of the Board and an ex-officio member. Our 4 Deaconesses take care of meals, kitchen supplies, and cleaning supplies.
We moved into our present church building in 1998, which has a seating capacity of about 200 in the sanctuary, as well as multiple classrooms. The church owns six acres of land, with a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch-style parsonage on the same land. The parsonage is about 1800 square feet with an attached 30´ x 30´ garage.
We have high speed Internet (5G), as well as city sewer and natural gas for both the church and the parsonage. We use laptop computers and an overhead projector for worship services. For those unable to attend worship, at this point recorded sermons are available on our website; we are in the process of setting up the necessary equipment so we can livestream the entire service in the future.
We currently have no debt, with a substantial amount in savings. We have no building plans in the immediate future. We support 14 missionaries or missionary projects with a budget of $1400 per month. All funds are raised by offering only.
