Chinese Church In Christ – San Jose
English Congregation Co-Pastor Opening

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on growing the English congregation (about 120 members)
    • Shepherd the congregation through expository preaching and teaching
    • Disciple, equip, and raise up leaders for the work of ministry
    • Move the congregation toward the vision of the congregation:
      • We are an intergenerational church that
        • invites others to follow Jesus Christ, 
        • invests in one another’s discipleship journey, and
        • integrates faith with life
        • by the power of the Holy Spirit for God’s glory.
    • Partner with the congregational leadership (elders, the other English co-pastor with a young adult focus, youth ministry pastors, deacons) to lead the overall English congregation
      • Preach Sunday sermons approximately 2-3 times a month as part of the preaching team (co-pastors, youth pastor, occasionally elders and guest speakers)
      • Teach adult Sunday School classes 
      • Motivate members to express their faith in evangelism and compassion services in the community.
      • Officiate communions, baptisms, and funerals as needed 
      • Provide pastoral care and counseling to congregation members as needed
      • Serve in other church ministries as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Seminary degree preferred
    • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ 
    • Pastoral/ministry experience, minimum 5 years 
    • Significant ministry experience with Asian-Americans (first generation and beyond)
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Team player 
    • Committed to and exemplify the value of servant leadership
    • Passionate about intergenerational ministry and church body life
    • Heart for sharing the gospel.
    • Excellent role model for adults and families
    • Agree with CCIC’s values, leadership structure, and doctrinal position
