St. Mark’s is a Christian community that worships God in the Anglican tradition, engages the historic teaching of the church, and participates in Christ’s mission. St. Mark's parish traces its history to Geneva's first settlers, Charity and James Herrington. The chapel was built in 1868, and over the last 153 years, the church has grown in the size and scope of its worship services, local and global outreach programs, age-specific ministries for children and youth, and more. Located one hour west of Chicago, in the heart of downtown Geneva, St. Mark’s is immersed in a beloved historic city. It is a favorite of visitors throughout the year.
As part of the Worldwide Anglican Communion, we join Episcopalians and Anglicans all over the world in worshiping the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and in meaningful fellowship with all Christians around the world.
As Anglicans, our worship is led and shaped by the Book of Common Prayer. We also hold to the teachings found therein. Particularly responsible for our formation is the Catechism found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.
We are also a member of the American Anglican Council whose goal is to build up and affirm Christian orthodoxy within the Anglican Communion. Their Statement of Faith can be read here.
