Church in the Square began as a location of another church in 2016. After two years of gathering on Sundays, meeting in homes through the week and serving our neighbors, the elders sensed God’s call for Church in the Square to become a new and autonomous church. And so in September of 2018 Church in the Square gathered for the first time at Monroe Elementary School in Logan Square.
We desired to remain faithful to our call as a gospel witness for Jesus on the northwest side of the city. We wanted to be a church that preached the word, applied the word, and lived our the word.
This original calling continues within the context of Logan Square and the northwest side of Chicago.
Over the past couple decades our part of the city has seen unprecedented change. Issues such as a lack of rent control and systematic prejudice have led to seismic shifts in the ethnic and socioeconomic makeup of the area. The global pandemic has only exposed and heightened these inequalities. Yet, by God's grace, a mosaic of God's image persists in our schools, businesses, families, restaurants, and artistic displays.
We see the kingdom coming all around us.
In this complexity we believe God continues to call us to disciple one another in our families, group, and as a church family.
