Job Description for Families Pastor,  a full-time position
Champion the church’s effective ministry to families with children
(infants through high school)
• Shepherd the parents with children.

• Follow up families visiting worship or other church events, striving to assimilate them into the church.

• Actively reach out and provide pastoral care to parents. • Disciple couples and single parents’ via study/prayer groups.

• Assure the quality of the Bible teaching and prayer times of the groups.

• Guide teachers and curriculum of the Families Sunday Adult Education classes. • Develop/implement practical strategies to mobilize families to the mission of the church. Grow a strong lay leadership team that leads/serves the spiritual growth of parents. Lead in cooperation with the church’s children’s and youth directors.

Other roles

  • Serve on the preaching team in the weekend services.

  • Be a visible pastoral leader in the Saturday night flock.  Have a regular public role in the services.Contact visitors and seek to assimilate them into the church family. Assure the readiness of ushers, hosts and hospitality team. Guide the hospitality team in encouraging a quality fellowship time.

  • Foster a missionary vision in the congregation, offering guidance to the Barnabas Teams who stay connected with the church’s career International Workers.

  • Accountability: Report to Lead Pastor.

    Standardized roles for all of the pastoral staff: Be a model of servant leadership.  Attend or start a weekly prayer group that focuses on the salvation of unbelievers.  Be present before and after the weekend services to greet people and show care for them. Meet with staff for weekly prayer, support, training and accountability. Lead and/or participate in a discipleship-oriented class/group. Maintain regular office hours. Show care and respect for all the ministry spaces utilized in the facility. Support staff initiatives including data entry and event planning. Submit semi-annual written reports to the Governing Board and Shepherds. Receive a 6-month review of duties and goals.
