Job description

Twin Lakes Bible Church – Pastor Job Description

Expectations:

At Twin Lakes Bible Church, we want our pastor’s role to be formed by the example Jesus gave to the church.

-Pastor to continually build his relationship w/the Father (& encourage others to do the same)

-spend dedicated time each week for personal growth with the lord through bible reading, outside studies, listening to other preachers, online courses, attend conferences as seen fit. The methods used for personal growth are up to the pastor himself.

-Preach the gospel of the kingdom of God

-Lead and preach regular Sunday morning services (10:00am)

-Teach “Sunday school lesson” (bible study) before regular church service

(some Sundays this will be handled by an elder) (9:00am)

-Wednesday night bible study (youth and adult together) (6:30pm)

-share the good news in your everyday life

(both with church attendees and the public as you interact)

-Lead funerals, baptisms, weddings, and counseling as needed

-Meet the needs of the people

-We expect the pastor to really get to know the members of the congregation. We are a small group of dedicated believers who thrive under the leadership of a good teacher with a sincere loving heart for the Lord and His people. Someone who desires the good of others and the Lord.

-Show them sympathy (touch their heart) house visits, hospital visits, etc.

-Win the confidence of the people and community. We don’t expect the pastor to be involved in every community event, but we would hope that in time the pastor would at least be recognizable to the community.

-Give your life as a sacrifice. This certainly isn’t a literal requirement, but the pastor’s main purpose is to be dedicated to God as his primary occupation and giver of time as needed for the betterment of the people God has entrusted you with.

Physical Expectations:

-This is a full-time position and requires a minimum of 40 hours a week. How the time requirement is achieved is negotiable and open to a schedule that best suites the pastor with the approval of the board.

-Three regularly scheduled office days are required. This is a great opportunity for:

-quite study time

-community out-reach

-witnessing opportunities to those who stop in

-time for consoling and relationship building

-meeting time

-The pastor is expected to devote one night per month to visiting a church member or family, preferably with an elder or deacon of the church.

-It is expected that the pastor takes regular scheduled time off each week to avoid burnout. We realize that there is always work to be done, but it is also equally important that one takes time away from the church to decompress, rest, and have time to take care of your own personal matters.

-Maintenance, cleaning, lawn care, snow plowing, etc. are NOT the responsibilities of the pastor. We do not want the pastor to feel that they need to or should do everything. We have a good group of members and regular attendees who all do their part to pitch in as needed, but there are rare times when an additional volunteer is welcome.

-The pastor’s wife is not required to work at the church alongside her husband, as there is not a paid position for her. However, we do expect some involvement in the ministry just as we do with any other congregational member. If she does so choose to “work” along side her husband it will not be frowned upon, but rather be seen as a great blessing to the church.
