The Federated Church of McDonald is seeking a full-time solo pastor.
This position comes with a salary of $39,000. It also includes a 4 bedroom and 3 bath parsonage right next door to the church building. There is an oversize 2 car garage (It would be possible to fit 4 cars in the garage). The electric, gas, landline phone (rings at both the church building and parsonage), and water bills are covered by the church. Television and internet bills are not covered by the church.
The Federated Church is a small rural church in the far northwest corner of Kansas. The church was founded in 1915 when the Methodist and Baptist churches merged. The church has adopted basically a Baptist doctrinal position. The church holds to a dispensationalist view of Scriptures and believes in election. Our church's attendance is currently less than 30. I believe that all but 4 of our regular attendees are over 60 and only one is under 18.
McDonald is a small town with a population of about 125. Our zip code covers 263.8 square miles and as of 2019 the population within that zip code was 408. This is an area where a 1,000 acre farm is considered to be a small farm.
The closest other church of any kind is about 10 miles away. It is in an isolated area with the nearest Walmart being nearly 50 miles away. The closest part-time medical clinic is about 10 miles away. The closest "major" hospital is at least 50 miles away. Depending on what you consider a "major" hospital it may be much further than that.
The town lost its school back in 1975 and currently children attend school in Bird City which is a small town about 10 miles away.
The town has a few businesses. There is a bank, a grocery store, a grain elevator, a seed distributor, a fertilizer distributor, a dry wall contractor, a very small long-term care facility, a part-time post office, and a liquor store.
I am the current pastor and am planning to retire after serving at the church for over 14 years. I would like to retire in the next 2-3 of months.
