PeacePlayers is using the power of sport to build peaceful and thriving communities.
In the 1950’s Muzafer Sherif, a social psychologist first described superordinate goals a solution to intergroup conflict. Putting youth from opposing groups on the same basketball team, positioning them towards a common goal has proven space for these youth to break down barriers, begin to heal, and bridge divides.
Through the sport of basketball we use our award winning curriculum to promote ways of conflict resolution and through our three core values--seeing people as people, inside out transformation and a culture of collaboration-- we ask our participants to challenge themselves to create change.
