The mission of Safe Families PLUS (Providing Lasting Unconditional Support) is to connect youth and young adults in the child welfare system with caring adult mentors who provide positive guidance for their transition to adulthood and beyond. Youth between the ages of 14 to 21 are at risk of aging out of care with few adult supports, and are self-referred for educational support, career and talent exploration, assistance with financial planning, and encouragement. Most of the youth live in residential group homes or transitional living programs. Mentors can be individuals or couples age 25 and older who can commit to at least one year of meeting with their mentee a minimum of twice per month.
