On October 6 1985, David, Nancy, Melodie and Jordan Wong began Gaithersburg Chinese Alliance Church (GCAC) at the Casey Community Center (Casey Barns). Sunday messages were given in English and translated to Mandarin Chinese. Within two years, the church was able to purchase its current property at 13101 Darnestown Road. Over the years, GCAC has been blessed with a multilingual community and expanded to have three worship services in three different languages (English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese). Gaithersburg International Christian Fellowship (GICF) is a ministry of GCAC.

The city of Gaithersburg and neighboring Germantown were identified in April 10, 2019 by WalletHub as being in the top 5 most diverse small cities in the United States. Gaithersburg scored high in socioeconomic, cultural, and economic diversity. The city reflects the changing face of America with immigration and migration movements as a high-tech hub and desired bed-room community.

In obedience to the biblical injunction to reach people of all races, language, and culture, a plan was adopted to go beyond a mono-ethnic congregation to be one that joins in a conversation with the world and community around us about matters of faith and life, always bringing the relevance of God’s perspective to the issues that face us.

We intentionally chose a name that would reflect our passion, mission and style.
