Minister Internship Job Description

The Minister Internship of the NOCBC is a part-time position, renewable on a semiannual basis. The internship minister is responsible for providing leadership to reach and evangelize Chinese people in the Northshore area of New Orleans (such as Covington, Slidell, etc.), consistent with the vision and mission of the NOCBC. The main responsibility will involve leading weekly fellowships/Sunday School; coordinating the ministry with fellow coworkers; and building relationship with Chinese people in Northshore, while caring for their spiritual needs and obtaining assistance for their physical needs. Long-term goal is church planting in these new fields.

ANTICIPATE TIME COMMITMENTS:

  1. Planning and Conducting Fellowships: 20 hours a week
    a. Weekly Fellowships: Organizing, preaching & sharing
    • Main Focus: Covington & Slidell Fellowships
    b. Short-Term Discipleship for future coworkers
    c. Caring & Visitation
  2. Teaching “Sunday” School: 4-8 hours a week
    a. Attend worship (Saturday and/or Sunday) at the NOCBC or associated churches in the Northshore.
    b. Prepare and teach Sunday School class.
  3. Staff Meetings: 2 hours per month
    a. Meet with the Senior Pastor
  4. Responsibilities & Duties:
    a. Be involved in outreach, visitation, counseling and caring.
    b. Participate in planning and conducting fellowships
    c. Participate in visitation when necessary.
    d. Provide biblical counseling regarding spiritual matters. Refer to professional counselor when necessary.
    e. Assist in planning special events for the fellowships with various church committees such as special retreats, etc.
    f. Keep the Senior Pastor abreast of programs and activities of then fellowships.
    g. Review and evaluate all materials used in the fellowships.
    h. Plan and coordinate special events (retreats, camps, mission projects and trips, creative fun activities, etc.) that touch the Northshore fellowships at various levels of spiritual maturity, within the goals and objectives of evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship and ministry.
    i. Develop healthy, constructive and collaborative relationships with other Northshore churches.
    j. Follow NOCBC interpersonal etiquette guidelines concerning visitation, counseling and caring. Must not develop intimate relationships with new students who are nonbelievers.
    k. Pray for the Senior Pastor, deacon board, fellow coworkers, and the church.
