Pastoral Internship
OVERVIEW
Beloit Road Baptist Church is seeking a Pastoral Intern for a 12 month (flexible) term. The aim of the Pastoral Internship is to prepare aspiring pastors for ministry through mentorship and hands-on experience in a small church context. This internship will be beneficial for all pastoral ministry, but is especially ideal for those aspiring to serve small churches as a Solo Pastor. This is a part-time position. The pay is free housing in the church's parsonage (5 bed / 2 bath).
GOALS
It is our goal at the end of the program, the Pastoral Resident will...
... aquire experience and growing wisdom in all the aspects of ministry you cannot learn in a classroom context.
... have competency and God-dependant confidence in the primary aspects of pastoral ministry.
... grow a supportive network of relationships for life-long coaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• A weekly mentoring meeting with the Senior Pastor.
• A rotation of Monthly Practicums (designing and leading worship services, teaching Bible studies, preaching, outreach, admin work, etc).
• Discipling the congregation through one ongoing ministry of interest (ie. small group, outreach, youth/children's, worship).
• Coming along with the pastor for various ministry opportunities as able (visitations, funerals, counseling, sermon prep, Elder meetings, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
• An abiding walk with Jesus Christ.
• Meet the Qualifications of an Elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9)
• Have a calling to serve as a Lead or Solo Pastor
• Embrace our Elder Affirmation of Faith and Church Covenant.
• Exihibt Christian maturity, such as the fruit of the Spirit.
• Have a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, with preference for a seminary degree.
