Bluff Hall EFCA

Bluff Hall Church is located in Fall creek Township in Adams County, Illinois ten miles South of Quincy, Illinois, five miles West of Payson, Illinois and seven miles North of Hannibal, Missouri. In spring of 1840 German Settlers moved into area. Then in 1860 a missionary doctor, Dr. Charles Conrad, leading a group of 18 people formed the church on December 3rd. Those who founded the church were of Lutheran and Evangelical traditions, which led the church to be given name, Evangelical Zion Church of Fall Creek. The preaching was in German language served by The Reverend Dr. Conrad until 1894. This was the original stone building. But then in 1894, it was decided that should build a new church building to facilitate the spiritual growth of future generations.  Within two years period the present church was erected. The rounded stained-glass windows remain as beautiful today as when installed.

In 2008, Bluff Hall Church emerged as a distinct entity, adopting the EFCA’s theological framework, which emphasizes biblical teaching, community worship, and living out the Gospel. The church’s rural setting near Illinois Route 57 reflects its deep roots in the agricultural community of Fall Creek Township.
