Position Overview

River Valley Church is prayerfully seeking a humble, Christ-centered Worship Director/Pastor with a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus. This individual will have a shepherd’s heart—passionately investing in the spiritual and musical growth of the worship team—and will lead our multi-generational congregation into genuine, Spirit-led worship.

This full-time pastoral role includes planning and leading services, discipling and training worship teams, and overseeing worship technology. Applicants should have strong vocal and instrumental leadership skills, a heart for shepherding, and a solid knowledge of Scripture for spiritual discernment and to help ensure songs are theologically sound. Experience with modern worship technology is also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and direct weekly worship services that are biblically grounded and musically engaging.

  • Recruit, develop, and pastor worship team members, fostering both skill and spiritual maturity.

  • Oversee all aspects of worship and music ministries, including sound, lighting, livestream, and media.

  • Collaborate with the creative director and ministry leaders on service planning and special events.

  • Lead music for special services such as Christmas, Easter, and other church events.

  • Serve in an additional pastoral ministry area (youth, small groups, counseling, etc.) approximately 10 hours/week based on gifting and need.

  • Manage the worship ministry budget and plan for equipment needs.

Qualifications

  • Vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus marked by humility, prayer, and holiness.

  • Strong vocal ability and proficiency in leading from a primary instrument.

  • Ability to lead the congregation with authenticity and a pastoral presence.

  • Solid knowledge of Scripture for discernment in song selection and ministry leadership.

  • Musical and theological competence (formal Bible or music training preferred).

  • Experience with modern worship technology (ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, DAWs, Waves, etc.).

  • Gifts in leadership, administration, and shepherding.

Position Details

  • Hours: Approximately 40 hours/week (including Sundays).

  • Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, reviewed annually.

  • Benefits: Paid vacation, pastoral expense reimbursement, and conference allowance.

  • Reports to: Senior Pastor and Elder Board representative.
