Our Story:
Veritas Cedar Rapids was born through the vision and leadership of Veritas Iowa City. Eighty people from the Cedar Rapids area were traveling to Iowa City each week to attend. The leadership of Veritas noticed and cast a vision for starting a campus in Cedar Rapids to help people reach the city where they live. In March 2013, Veritas Church held its first service at a bar in downtown Cedar Rapids. Six months later, they relocated to the DoubleTree Hotel for two years. As the Cedar Rapids campus grew rapidly, the elder team of Veritas Iowa City felt led to proceed with planting the congregation in Cedar Rapid. A new elder team was initiated, staff were hired, and in July 2015, Veritas Cedar Rapids became an autonomous church. In August 2016, they moved into their permanent home downtown.
Veritas Church is a member of The Salt Network of churches. There are over 400 major university campuses in North America. In the next 20 years, The Salt Network is resolved to see a thriving church and college ministry established in these major university centers here and around the globe. The Salt Network is working to see churches planted, communities strengthened, and Gospel witness extended to the ends of the earth.
THE MISSION
Make disciples who shape our community.
We believe that the best thing we can do for the city is to put more passionate followers of Jesus in it. We want more people in our community who Celebrate, Connect, and Contribute. We Celebrate God through personal and corporate worship, because value a lifestyle of worship. We Connect with others for accountability, support, and growth in following Jesus, because we value intentional relationships. This happens in Connection Groups. We Contribute time, money, and influence towards making more people who reflect our Savior Jesus, because we value living on mission. This is how we long to shape our community.
PHILOSOPHY
BELIEFS -
In addition to being a part of The Salt Network, Veritas Church is also a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. Theologically, we align with the Baptist Faith and Message, the Danvers Statement of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and hold to a Calvanistic view of salvation.
