Missions Internship – Mazatlán, Mexico

Serve local churches. Experience cross-cultural ministry. Grow in leadership.

Spend a semester serving with the missionary team at Shoulder to Shoulder in Mazatlán, Mexico. We partner with over 65 local churches to serve, equip, and encourage pastors through training, biblical counseling, prayer, and long-term relationships. Interns play a key role in hosting mission teams from U.S. churches while also serving directly alongside Mexican pastors and congregations.

Interns help lead and support mission teams through construction projects, children’s ministry (VBS), outreach, evangelism, and local church engagement. When teams are in town (about every other week), the schedule is full and fast-paced. Alternate weeks provide space for rest, online coursework, and mentoring with our missionary staff.

This is a deeply immersive, hands-on experience. Interns live near the ministry base, serve alongside a bicultural team, and build meaningful relationships within the local church. A basic conversational level of Spanish is expected, along with a desire to grow through immersion.

We’re looking for students who are flexible, servant-hearted, and eager to grow. Interns gain experience in leadership, cross-cultural ministry, Spanish, and practical service in the local church.

Details:

  • Terms: January–May (or July)
  • 3–4 interns per term
  • Housing is arranged near the ministry base
  • Interns are responsible for travel and living expenses
