Our Beliefs

The Scriptures

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and in case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word, and deed. (Romans 5:12-17)

Jesus Christ

A. His Virgin Birth

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35)

B. His Redemptive Character

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

C. His Resurrection and Priestly Ministry

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, and in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. (1 Corinthians 15:20-21; 1 John 2:1)

Salvation

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (John 1:12; Titus 3:5)

Future Events

A. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in “that blessed hope” and the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18;

1 John 3:2-3)

B. The Eternal State of Man

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. The just are raised to an everlasting blessedness and the unjust to an everlasting conscious punishment. (John 5:28-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 20:15)

The Church

A. Defined

We believe that the local church is the body of baptized, immersed, believers for worship, work, and fellowship. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

B. Ordinances

We believe that the two ordinances of the church are baptism, the mode of which shall be by immersions, and the Lord’s Supper. (Matthew 28:19-20;

1 Corinthians 11:2)

C. Government

We believe the local church is an independent and self-governing body responsible alone to Christ, who is its Savior and Lord. (Acts 13:1-3)
