Jenison Bible Church is a member of the Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA) and is currently seeking a Worship Leader. 

Worship Leader Job Description

 Qualifications:

1. Committed disciple of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God and committed to continual spiritual growth.
2. Must be in full agreement with the Jenison Bible Church Statement of Faith, Doctrine and Constitution.
3. Must have the call of God to the Worship Leader position.
4. Must be committed to Christ and His church, the Holy Scriptures (Old and New Testaments), family, and the music ministry.
5. Degree in areas of music ministry.
6. Passion and vision for including praise music along with upbeat traditional Christian music in worship ministry in order to contribute to worship vitality and multi-generational community.
7. Ability and experience to lead, inspire and engage the congregation during the worship experience.
8. Music background by education and experience, and have teaching ability sufficient to coach and guide all the members of the music ministry to continually enhance their musical skills.
9. Familiarity with modern Christian music as well as more traditional styles of sacred music, and have the ability to engage the congregation in both a traditional and contemporary worship style setting.
10. Experience as a worship leader in multiple services and styles of music (traditional and contemporary).
11. Experience directing choirs, orchestra, praise band and youth.
12. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills required to effectively collaborate with both the church staff and administrators as well as the other members of the music ministry.
13. Should have the personality and ability to lead, organize, plan and work well with others.
14. Shall be supportive of the Senior Pastor and his philosophy of ministry for sound Bible teaching.
15. Knowledge of audio and visual needs of the music ministry.

Duties:

1. Worship Leader:
   1. Provide inspiring and motivational music ministry during  worship services and at Jenison Bible Church programs/events as needed.
   2. Lead the congregation, utilizing a variety of styles of music, including coaching for new songs unfamiliar to the congregation.
   3. Spread vitality and engage the congregation through musical worship.
   4. Help bridge generational/cultural differences by selecting a balance of musical styles for every service which will, as a whole, have multigenerational appeal, and by briefly presenting the spiritual context of all music to the congregation in terms through which all generational and cultural perspectives can understand, relate and connect with God.
   5. Assist in developing opportunities for Youth involvement in the worship service.
   6. Assist, advise, and counsel individuals and groups for weddings, funerals and other ministries.

1. Music Ministry Leader:
   1. Plan, organize and lead the music ministry, which includes audio and visual operation teams.
   2. Rehearse the Sanctuary Choir weekly, including a choir “warm up” just prior to each Sunday morning service the choir will minister.
   3. Lead and direct the various components of the music programs including the choir(s), vocal, instruments, orchestra and other expressions of musical experience.
   4. Teach, coach and mentor all music ministry team members to become lifelong learners with respect to their musical talents as well as their spiritual development.
   5. Rehearse or otherwise assure preparedness of all music ministry elements.
   6. Mentor and coach interested members to become worship leaders or other forms of music ministry specialists, according to their calling.
   7. Responsible to discern the musically gifted and interested and be able to recruit and equip those persons for the ministry of music.
   8. Practice discipleship through inspiring and engaging music ministry.
   9. Provide visionary leadership for the overall music program at Jenison Bible Church.

1. Music Planner:
   1. Collaborate with Senior Pastor on service themes and music.
   2. Coordinate with Worship Committee for planning and implementation.
   3. Utilize technology in planning and presenting music to enhance the worship message.
   4. Develop quarterly schedules for worship teams, musicians/accompanist, and tech teams.
   5. Work with Pastor & Worship Committee to recruit and schedule special music to add variety to worship and supplement in-house music assets.
   6. Arrange for, and prepare music components for special events and worship programs. These may include, but are not limited to, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Good Friday, Easter services, and Vacation Bible School.
   7. Participate in the monthly planning meetings with the Pastor and the Worship Committee and other relevant planning sessions as they may arise.

1. Music Administrator:
   1. Meet deadlines for publication or other logistical considerations.
   2. Maintain effective communications with Pastoral staff, Worship Committee and music ministry team.
   3. Attend weekly staff meetings.
   4. Oversee the orderly maintenance of the music library and a database of hymns, praise music and anthems used in worship.
   5. Acquire the music, equipment and supplies required to perform designated duties in accordance with Jenison Bible Church financial policies.
   6. Create and manage the music ministry budget and submit required reports, estimates and requests by specified deadlines.
   7. Submit a monthly ministry report to the Elder Board.
   8. A member of the Church Ministry Council

1. Accountability:
   1. The Minister of Music is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor
   2. All members of the ministry staff are supported by and accountable to the Church Council (Elders and Deacons).
   3. Seek spiritual and professional growth through workshops, conferences, collaboration and personal study.
