Child Evangelism Fellowship of Reading and Berks County, Inc. is affiliated with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Eastern Pennsylvania, Inc. which began in 1938 by Jesse Irvin Overholtzer. The Berks County chapter was incorporated in 1955. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) interdenominational children’s ministry. We exist to reach boys and girls with the Gospel, help children grow as Christians, channel unchurched children into Bible-believing, Bible-teaching churches, and train young people and adults how to teach the Word of God to children. These goals are accomplished through Good News Clubs held during the school year and Good News Day Camps held during the summer. Both programs are run by volunteers we train and include Bible Lessons, mission’s emphasis, memory verses, songs, and games.

The Assistant Director position involves many aspects of the ministry. They include teaching children through Good News Clubs and Good News Day Camps, training volunteers, planning ministry events, and promoting the ministry.

The right candidate will have two to four years of college education in teaching, early child development, and/or Bible. Previous work experience in these areas is preferred. The position also requires organizational and interpersonal skills. The Assistant Director must be a team player as they will work closely with the Director and other staff.

  • Present the ministry and maintain relationships with churches and individuals

 

Qualifications:

            The right candidate must be fit for this position in four key areas:

Character- The candidate will know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and be committed to growing in Christlikeness. They will have a burden to reach boys and girls with the Gospel.

Competence- The candidate should have some degree of relevant ministry experience. They will have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in teaching, Christian ministry, or another related field. It requires internal motivation with the goal of serving the Lord to their utmost.

Collaboration- The right candidate will display the ability to work well with all staff and volunteers. They will display relational wisdom and grace in interactions with students and adults alike.

Culture- The candidate will understand and agree with both the theological and philosophical identity of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Eastern PA, Inc.

 

Accountability:

The person in the position of Assistant Director is accountable to the Director and Berks County’s Committee.

 

Compensation:

The salaried compensation will be in the range of $12.00 to $14.00 per hour for a forty-hour week. Benefits will be discussed and start after a trial period for this full-time position.
