1. POSITION OVERVIEW: Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Senior Pastor who is called by God to shepherd our congregation in Villa Park, IL. We are looking for someone to provide spiritual leadership to our congregation through sound biblical expository preaching and teaching, compassionate pastoral care, equipping the saints for ministry and building a culture of disciple making. This person will meet the biblical requirements found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. He will work with our Elder board to fulfill the mission of our church.

 2. QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ

    B. Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle, fulfilling the biblical leadership.

    C. Agreement with the doctrinal statement of HAEFC

    D. Competent in Bible teaching and preaching.

    E.  Potential and desire to remain in long-term ministry at HAEFC

    F. Successful ministry experience.

    G. Adequate skills and education for the position.  MDiv preferred.

    H. Ordained. (preferred but could be done later)

 3. RESPONSIBILITIES; Have primary responsibility for the teaching and sustaining of biblical doctrines of this church and equipping God's people for ministry.

       A. Pastoral Duties:

        1) Preach and teach the Word of God regularly.

        2) Have overall responsibility for the public worship services.

        3) Administer the ordinances.

        4) Provide general pastoral care and nurture.

        5) Attend Elder meetings.         

   B. Leadership duties:

        1) Provide overall vision and leadership to HAEFC

        2) Work with the leadership team to organize and develop the ministry of HAEFC

        3) Provide overall leadership for the ministry teams of HAEFC

        4) Oversee the development and implementation of ministry objectives.

        5) Develop leaders.

   C. Management duties:

        1) Supervise pastoral staff.

        2) Supervise church administration staff.

   D. Kingdom duties:

        1) Represent the church to the community.

        2) Provide ministry to the broader body of Christ.

 4. ACCOUNTABILITY;

    A. The Senior Pastor is accountable to the congregation through the Elder Board.

    B. Any other issues relating to this position are defined in the bylaws as follows: 

                 Senior Pastor shall oversee and/or administer all functions of the ministry.

                 Pastoral Staff shall perform duties as designated by the Elder Board and work under the                             direction of the Senior Pastor.
