Calvary International Church (São Paulo, Brazil) – Lead Pastor

The Big Picture

Calvary International Church (calvary.org.br) is a faithful English-speaking

international congregation seeking a full-time Lead Pastor who will preach the

Word of God in an expository manner, graciously shepherd the congregation, and

provide godly leadership.

The Church

The church was established in 1961 by a group of members from Perdizes Baptist

Church to minister to the growing number of English-speaking families that were

moving to São Paulo. It was founded on traditional Baptist principles and doctrine.

Today, the congregation is made up of representatives from over 15 nations, with

different socio-economic and religious backgrounds, all gathering for the purpose

of corporate worship, fellowship and being equipped to go out and share the gospel

of Jesus with the world. Presently, Sunday morning worship attendance is between

250 and 300 with two service times being offered, 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Of those

in attendance, 120 are resident members. Demographically, around 60% of the

congregation is Brazilian, mostly 3rd culture, and 40% foreign. We livestream our

services online, as well as provide access to recorded messages. We have a full

program of worship, Sunday School, community groups, and activities for children

and youth. The church has both elders and deacons. The Lead Pastor serves

alongside non-vocational elders in a manner consistent with Elder-Led

Congregationalism.

The Qualifications

The Pastor must fulfill the qualifications of the office of an Elder as outlined in 1

Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Previous experience in a ministry role for at least

five years is highly desired. A Seminary degree is preferred or, at minimum, a

bachelors in Bible or ministry-related field. He must exhibit in daily life the Fruit

of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22 and display on-going growth in

sanctification, spiritual wisdom, and the knowledge of God’s will. Be able to

preach, teach, and converse fluently, comfortably, and clearly in English. Be

comfortable in conversational Portuguese (or be willing to intentionally pursuelanguage study over the first years of ministry). Be able to teach orthodox, Biblical

truth in agreement with Calvary’s Statement of Faith.
