POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Family team, a Family Ministry Pastor/Director helps to illustrate, fulfill, and model The River Church’s vision of Reach, Gather, Grow. We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and passionate leader to lead and care for our River Kids Ministry at our Waterford Location. The River Kids Pastor/Director will pastor and disciple kids, leaders, and families. This position works hand in hand with the Family Pastor and the Family Team, which includes other River Kids Pastors/Directors, to provide a dynamic Family Ministry that will further Gospel efforts in the Waterford of The River Church.

The basis of a River Kids Director/Pastor’s role is to provide opportunities for hearts to be changed because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This most consistently takes place during the weekly duties of the role. Weekend Gatherings and AWANA provide kids a routine way to come to know who Jesus is, and what He did for them.

RESPONSIBILITIES

River Kids Gathering

• Schedule and coordinate volunteers for all Gatherings at the location via Planning Center.

• Recruit, train, and develop leaders that help teach and guide River Kids in weekend Gatherings.

• Maintain River Kids area, including implementing any design, signage, etc., planned by the Family Team and Communications Team.

• Connect with new families via phone calls, emails, cards, texts, etc...

• Continue connection with regular attendee families via phone calls, emails, cards, texts, etc...

AWANA

• In conjunction with the Family Team Family Ministry Pastor/Director, implement the AWANA/River curriculum and programming for the AWANA program.

• Recruit, train, and develop leaders that help teach and guide kids through the AWANA program.
  
  

Reach Sports

• In conjunction with the Family Team Children’s Directors/Pastors, help implement our in-house Basketball program, Reach Sports.

• Recruit and train coaches for Reach Sports teams.

• Schedule and coordinate the halftime devotional for Saturday games.

• Schedule and coordinate weekly practices for each team via team coaches.

• Help assist in the coordination of day-of set up and connection with families.

Camps

• Plan, coordinate, and manage kids' summer camp with the Family Team.

• Help develop the week-long summer camp program for kids.

• Attend all kids' camps and retreats.

• Plan, coordinate, and manage Adventure Days/VBS program with the Family Team.

• Coordinate and schedule trained adult leaders for each camp or event.

• Plan, coordinate, and manage events for kids that help further the outreach into the community.

Events

• Organize and coordinate volunteers for events such as Location Reach Events, Growth Communities, Children’s Events, Holiday Events, etc...

QUALIFICATIONS

The Family Ministry Pastor/Director must possess a godly, and faithful character that exemplifies the Spirit-filled walk of a child of God (1 Cor. 4:1,2; 1 Tim. 4:12). He must have a passion to work with kids, the ability to train up adult leaders, and a heart to teach/preach God’s word. He must have a desire to reach lost kids in the community with the Gospel, but also have a heart to watch kids be discipled in God's Word. He must be able to work well in a team setting.

Desired Attributes and Experience:

• Gospel-focused and Gospel motivated.

• A desire to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ.

• Experience in leadership roles within Family ministry.

• Communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

• Familiarity with mentoring practices and teaching methods.

• Previous experience working within children's or student ministry.

• The ability to work within a team.

• The ability to build teams (recruiting and developing) team members to help complete the Gospel work of The River Church.

• The ability to be a self-starter.

ABOUT THE RIVER CHURCH

The River Church is a non-denominational, multi-location church in Oakland and Genesee Counties of Michigan. The River Church exists to glorify God by Reaching the world, Gathering with the Saints, and Growing in the Word. Each area of ministry (events, programs, gatherings, growth communities, etc.) is done with Reach, Gather, Grow in mind. We have watched God move in incredible ways and are constantly looking for what He will do next. Our nine locations average around 4000 people a weekend (via in-person and online).

ABOUT WATERFORD LOCATION

The River Church Waterford location is a place where we are seeing God move in incredible ways! We are excited to see new and young families connecting with what God is doing. On a typical weekend, we see around 700 adults, 60 River Kids in the nursery, and 70 River Kids in Elementary. Additionally, our AWANA program is thriving with about 100 kids and 20 leaders.
