Secondary English Teacher (Grades 6–12)

Greater Portland Christian School is seeking a mission-driven Secondary English Teacher who is passionate about both Jesus and teaching. This role is more than instruction—it is discipleship. What You’ll Do

As a member of our faculty, you will:

• Teach English across grades 6–12, which may include:

  • Literature

  • Writing and Composition

  • Grammar

  • Handwriting

  • Public Speaking

• Design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons grounded in biblical truth

• Assess student growth and maintain clear communication with parents and school leadership

• Serve as a Christ-centered role model, mentoring students in both academic and spiritual formation

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ, actively involved in a Bible-believing church

• In full agreement with the GPCS Statement of Faith and committed to a biblical worldview

• Passionate about Christian education as a form of ministry

• Able to engage students of varying abilities with clarity, structure, and enthusiasm

• Skilled in classroom leadership and relationship-building

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field

• Current State of Maine teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
