Pastor of Hispanic Ministries Job Description

Overview:     The Hispanic Ministry Pastor oversees and coordinates weekly events, activities, and translation work for church-wide ministry. They will work with the other pastors and staff to pursue the church vision of “Becoming a People to Reach People for Christ.”

I.               Role:  The Hispanic Ministry Pastor of Maywood Bible Church shall function in the following      manner under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

A.    Learner:  The primary desire for this person is that they possess a “teachable spirit” in order to impart practical wisdom and to grow spiritually as a servant of Christ.

B.    Supporter:  He should be ready to serve in whatever capacity called upon within the various ministries of the church.  It will include hours that may not always be convenient but consistent to pastoral ministry. 

C.     Follower:  He should be enthusiastically willing to follow the directions of the reporting pastor when called upon with a “Christ-like servant spirit”.  They must fully support in practice and in spirit the decisions that are made by the leadership.

D.    Self–Starter:  They must be capable of initiating ministry and staying on task without constant                      supervision.  This means arriving early to work and scheduled events in order to start on time.                      Personal discipline, hard work, and good management of one’s own time and the guarding of others            is expected.

E.     Communicator:  They should be able to articulate and transfer the flow of information in an                             honorable way between volunteers, attenders, and ministry staff.

F.     Encourager:  They should work to encourage the Body of Christ to get involved and to create a                      positive atmosphere with those he works.  He should contribute towards a positive work environment          in the ministries and on the staff.

G.    Prepared:  They should always arrive prepared and ready to engage in all ministry that is taking place.          Excellence for God’s glory is the goal.

II.             RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Hispanic Ministry Pastor of Maywood Bible Church shall carry out the  following tasks under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

A.    He must be able to speak both English and Spanish for translation purposes.

B.    He is responsible for the weekly translation of the service (typically one) and other church events as            requested.

C.     He oversees and coordinates the scheduling of translators when needed.

D.    He shall cultivate healthy and honorable relationships with those he works and oversees in ministry. 

E.     He shall respect personal boundaries as defined in the Child Protection Policy at Maywood and with            those of the opposite gender.

F.     He works alongside of the pastors to develop and expand upon current and future ministry.

G.    He works to integrate the Hispanic ministry into the larger body of the church family.

H.    He works to communicate clearly and regularly with the Hispanic community concerning church                  related events and body life.

I.      He makes use of Maywood’s social platforms in order to communicate and promote ministry                        happenings.

J.      He works to get to know Hispanic guests who attend worship services and events.  He also works to           shepherd the lives of those within the body that he intersects.

K.    He may be called upon for various tasks unexpectedly (even unrelated to his specific ministry).

L.     He communicates ministry needs and concerns to those that he works within a timely manner.

M.   He calls upon and visits those who happen to visit Maywood. 

N.    He works to creatively develop networks and ministry that can help further the Gospel.

O.    He actively recruits volunteers for various ministries within the church. 

P.     He disciples through teaching God’s Word and he develops other leaders who can do the same.

Q.    Regular attendance in worship and general gatherings at Maywood will be expected for him and his family.

III.       RELATIONSHIPS:  The Hispanic Ministry Pastor of Maywood Bible Church relates to the following  individuals and /or groups.

A.    He is responsible, first of all, to the Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we must all              give an account (Ro. 14:12; Col. 1:18).

B.    He is hired by the Lead Pastor and is accountable to him in terms of function, responsibilities, and                accomplishments of ministry.

C.     He partners with the other pastoral staff and ministry staff to accomplish ministry.

D.    He partners with volunteers to accomplish ministry.

E.     In all his relationships, he shall cultivate spiritual health and guard the unity with the staff and the                church families. 

*This is a full-time job with health and retirement benefits. It will consist of a minimum of 45-50 hours          each week.

*A bachelor’s degree in Bible / Theology (or equivalent) is preferred along with agreement with the EFCA      Statement of Faith. Ministry experience is required.
