Children’s and Teen Ministry Director

Position Overview

Uflourish Church is a multi-ethnic, gospel-centered church committed to transforming neighborhoods and reaching people who are far from God. We are seeking a Children’s and Teen Ministry Director who will build and lead a thriving kids and teens ministry. This ministry will serve a diverse group of students—including those from strong, engaged families within the church as well as many who are unchurched and come from challenging or unstable home environments.

This role requires someone who loves Jesus deeply, cares passionately for children, and can think creatively about reaching and discipling young people in our community. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader, strong communicator, team builder, and relational shepherd who can design engaging programming and build a sustainable ministry structure.

Ministry Scope

The Children’s and Teen Ministry Director will oversee programming for:

Kids Flourish (Newborn – 6th Grade)
Sunday mornings during church services

Teen Flourish (7th –12th Grade)
Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM

The ministry will focus on discipleship, outreach, leadership development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Vision & Leadership

• Develop and implement the vision and strategy for Uflourish Church Children and Teen Ministries.

• Create pathways for students to know Christ, grow in faith, & become leaders.

• Weekly programming preparation

• Leadership development

• Student discipleship

• Outreach initiatives

• Volunteer training

• Administrative planning

Program Development

• Design and lead engaging weekly programming for:

  • Kids Flourish: Newborn–6th grade Sunday morning gatherings

  • Teen Flourish: Sunday evening gatherings (6 PM)

• Create environments where both unchurched and churched students feel welcomed and engaged.

• Plan events, retreats, outreach initiatives, and discipleship opportunities.

Outreach & Community Engagement

• Develop relationships with local schools and community organizations to connect children to the ministry.

• Create outreach strategies that intentionally reach children who do not currently attend church.

• Equip students to invite their friends and build a culture of evangelism and inclusion.

Volunteer Leadership

• Recruit, train, and shepherd a team of kids and teens ministry volunteers and leaders.

• Create leadership pipelines that empower adults and students to serve.

• Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and development for volunteers.

Student Discipleship

• Build relationships with students through mentorship and presence.

• Provide opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development, and service.

• Partner with parents to support the spiritual development of their children.

Communication

• Communicate clearly and consistently with children, parents, and the church.

• Utilize social media, digital communication, and creative outreach to engage students.

Qualifications

Spiritual & Character

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a vibrant personal faith.

• Demonstrates spiritual maturity, integrity, and humility.

• Passionate about discipling the next generation.

Experience & Skills

• Experience in kids and teen ministry, youth leadership, or next-generation ministry.

• Strong ability to build teams and recruit volunteers.

• Creative thinker who can design engaging and relevant programming.

• Excellent relational and communication skills.

• Ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and life situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience leading or building kids and/or teen ministry.

• Experience working in urban or multi-ethnic ministry contexts.

• Biblical or theological training (formal or informal).

• Deep love for God and people

• Passion for reaching students far from Christ

• Creative and outside-the-box thinker

• Strong initiative and a self-starter

• Team-oriented leader who thrives in a church planting/building environment
