Messiah Baptist is an established church with history dating back to the late 1800s & has been located in the Western suburbs of Chicago in the township of Addison, IL since 1974. Sunday services include teaching at 9:30 and church service at 10:30 along with midweek service on Wednesdays at 7pm with an Awana program at 6:30 also on Wednesdays. Men's and women's bible studies are conducted on various days of the week.

Purpose:

The purpose & mission of this church shall be to strive, by the help of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, to carry out the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ as stated specifically in Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 8:28-29; Matthew 6:33 and supported in other scriptures.

Job Requirements: 

Minimum of 10 years previous pastoral experience required. Bilingual Spanish preferred. Degree in Theology, Counseling and/or Biblical Studies are preferred from a reputable school. The pastor will be expected to preach each Sunday and have a lesson for Wednesdays. He will also lead board meetings. He will be responsible for the hiring of church staff as required. The senior pastor will also visit those who are homebound and in hospitals and may be called after hours for emergency visits. The pastor may also be called on by members for counseling services. The pastor will adhere to the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 and Titus 1: 6-9.

Job Description: 

The Senior Pastor will preach each week on Sundays and lead a lesson on Wednesdays. Throughout the week the pastor will meet with members of the church and community, plan Bible studies & conduct outreach opportunities, council members in need and visit those unable to attend due to physical ailments. The Senior pastor will be compensated fairly with a total salary starting at $57,000.00. In addition to salary, the compensation package includes a 3 bedroom, 1 ½  bathroom house on the church grounds of which will be maintained by the church along with utilities. The house has been recently renovated. Additional room in basement level could be used as 4th bedroom. The church itself sits on approximately 10 acres of land that is well kept by members of the church.

Biblical Duties

1.     To preach & teach God’s Word regularly (Acts 6:3-4)

2.     To equip the saints to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12)

3.     To feed the flock (I Peter 5:1-4)

4.     To be an example to the flock (I Timothy 3:1-7)

5.     To administer the church ordinances (Baptism & Lord’s Supper)
