Associate Pastor at Oneida Gospel Church

We seek a qualified pastor to join the elders and lead pastor in EQUIPPING the church for the work of ministry.  See our Introduction to Oneida Gospel Church.

Responsibilities

Equipping the Church for Word Ministry (16 hours/week)

• Devote himself to prayer and to the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4)

• Youth Ministry: Lead or appoint others to lead Youth Group and Sunday school, ensuring mature adults pass on the faith to Oneida’s 5th-12th graders.

• Adult Education: Provide for teaching God’s people the whole counsel of God in Adult Sunday School

• Oversee elder care of the sick and dying

• Ensure the effectiveness of our retreat ministries

• Strengthen and support small groups, bible studies, and their leaders

• Oversee Baptism and Membership processes 

• Preach three to twelve times per year

  • Family Ministry

    • Strengthen marriages through teaching and counselling

    • Partner with parents to raise children who love and follow Jesus

Equipping the Church for Deed Ministry (24 hours/week)

• Mobilize and manage each deacon who oversees a volunteer ministry of the church (Finance, Facilities, Sound and Technology, Events, Hospitality, Security, Men’s and Women’s ministries)

• Mobilize the congregation to use their gifting to edify the church and evangelize the world

• Manage Administrative and Custodial Staff

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

• Testimony of conversion and agreement to Oneida’s Doctrinal Statement and Church Covenant

• Fit the biblical qualifications for an elder as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7

• Love for the Lord expressed in unmistakable affection for His Word, His church, and all people

• Able to make disciples by teaching the bible in groups and one to one

• Excellent people skills

  • Hospitable

  • Emotionally intelligent

  • Able to manage conflict

• Organizational skills

• MDiv degree or equivalent (or willing to work toward such a degree)

Non-Essential Qualifications

• Able to master modern technologies (Church Management Software, Apps, Social Media)
