World Gospel Outreach is looking for the right person to join our team as the Children’s Psychologist at Rancho Ebenezer near Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Children’s Psychologist at the Ranch will conduct psychological testing, leading to diagnoses, analysis, and treatment of psychological disturbances. The psychologist must be able to conduct clinical sessions independently with the children and youth at the Ranch. In addition, the psychologist will provide support by conducting clinical trainings and meetings with Ranch personnel to increase their knowledge of psychological concepts. The psychologist will also teach effective and research-based strategies to use in order to maintain emotional, psychological, and physical well-being of the children and youth.
The essential requirements and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential/Key Responsibilities include:
● Conducting psychological tests for each individual child, providing diagnoses and treatment suggestions as necessary
● Perform regular checkups for the children at the Ranch, keeping documentation of all progress
● Report any critical findings to the Children’s Services Manager, along with any other staff (caregivers, ranch director, social workers, teachers, parents, mentor parents, etc.)
● Be available outside of regular work hours in case of emergencies
● Follow existing procedures and implement new ones to create effective systems
● Stay up to date with treatments, therapy and educational tools related to mental health and childhood development
● Communicate well with supervisors, peers, coworkers, children, doctors, etc.
● Provide spiritual guidance for children when applicable
● Maintain status as a full-time fundraising missionary
● Pursue personal spiritual growth
Required Skills/Abilities include:
● Be a born again believer in Jesus Christ
● Aware of and sensitive to trauma backgrounds and home environments that many of the children come from
● Good organizational skills, to be used in documenting the needs and progress of the children
● Good communication skills
● Bi-lingual, speaking both Spanish and English fluently, or willing to learn
● Knowledge of cross-cultural communication
● Knowledge of modern psychology practices, treatments and systems
Education, Experience & Other
● Be a U.S. citizen
● Master’s degree or higher in psychology
● Experience working as a psychologist in a professional setting
● Degree or experience in child development, education or related field
● Experience in working with children, especially those with a traumatic background
● Valid psychology license (if applicable)
