Position Summary
River City is a church in the reformed tradition and a member congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). We are seeking someone who possesses a deep love for the local church to lead and oversee the worship music ministry with musical and theological thoughtfulness. The Worship Music Director will work alongside church leadership to cultivate worship gatherings that are reverent, joyful, biblically rich, musically excellent, and congregational in nature.
The ideal candidate loves the Lord, loves people, and is comfortable with hymns, traditional songs, as well as gospel-rich contemporary songs and select modern worship. In Spring 2027 we will be moving into a newly renovated building after having spent the last 9 years in gymnasiums, borrowed spaces, and parks. River City Church is healthy, warm, welcoming, and deeply desires to love and care for our next Music Director and their family.
Employment Information
- Position Type: Part-Time, 4 weeks off per year.
- Classification: Salaried W-2 Employee
- Salary range: $25-$30K based on commensurate experience
- Minimum Time Commitment: Approx. 15 hours per week
- Reports To: Lead Pastor
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
- Lead congregational worship vocally and instrumentally during Sunday and special worship services.
- Plan worship music with the Lead Pastor to support the church’s preaching, theology, and ministry goals.
- Lead weekly worship rehearsals and prepare all team members for Sunday services.
Team Development and Shepherding
- Oversee and coordinate musicians and vocalists serving on the worship team.
- Recruit, encourage and develop worship team volunteers and leaders.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Use Planning Center and ProPresenter to coordinate scheduling, music preparation, and worship services.
- Maintain consistent communication and coordination with church staff and worship volunteers.
- Manage audio and video team including posting sermon videos.
Qualifications
Ministry Experience
Preferred candidates will:
- Have previous experience leading worship and serving in worship ministry leadership.
- Have musical proficiency and technical experience in performance software.
- Preferably have experience in a Reformed church environment.
Character and Spiritual Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A clear and evident love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- A genuine love for people and the local church.
- Humility, teachability, and spiritual maturity.
- A collaborative spirit and willingness to receive leadership, direction, and feedback graciously.
- A commitment to congregational worship rather than performance-driven worship.
- Comfort serving within a Reformed theological environment.
- Strong organizational skills and administrative reliability.
- Leadership maturity in working with and developing volunteers.
