A Serge team in the Middle East is committed to witnessing the transformation and renewal of communities in the host country and surrounding regions through the power of the gospel for both the world’s good and God’s glory. We are offering a vocational internship opportunity designed for students and college graduates who have a desire to learn about the Middle Eastern region, engage in cross-cultural living and ministry, and conduct ethnographic research.
This opportunity may also provide opportunities to learn about cross-cultural counseling, counseling methodologies, member care, and teaching English as a second language.

Duration: January 2027 – May 2027

Eligibility: This vocational internship is open to all adults aged 20+. It’s particularly well-suited for current undergraduates or graduate students pursuing studies related to Liberal Arts, Cross-Cultural Ministry, Counseling, Education, and Modern Languages and Culture.
The Context:
The Middle East remains one of the least-reached regions in the world. Despite legal restrictions and spiritual oppression, there exists a remnant of genuine believers who have placed their faith in Christ. Serge workers live in a diverse urban setting, offering opportunities to collaborate with refugee camps within the city and assist displaced individuals from neighboring countries. Serge workers in the region provide counseling, discipleship, teaching, and evangelism, partner with the local believers whenever possible, and strive to strengthen the local church.
Responsibilities:

Actively Participate in Team-Life (meetings, retreats, activities)

Be Mentored by long-term cross-cultural workers

Experience in living cross-culturally, relating to people of different cultures, and understanding the predominant belief systems in the region

Study spoken Arabic with a private tutor or in a classroom setting and begin to develop relationships within the community

Gain a deeper understanding of God’s work in the Middle East

Explore Opportunities for long-term service (opportunities and needs, understanding God-given giftings)
Requirements and Critical Qualities:

Must be a Christian and actively walking with the Lord with a desire to grow in your understanding of the Gospel at work in your life

Cross-culturally sensitive, with a heart for kingdom work in the least-reached regions, and interested in exploring this type of work vocationally

Mature, flexible, independent, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative.

If an undergrad student, must have the capability to complete required coursework online while participating in the internship.must be able to complete undergrad course requirements online

Interested in Arabic language and culture, as well as an eagerness to engage with the local community

Willing to live closely alongside fellow interns and teammates, and yet with a good amount of independence, in an urban environment.
