Chapel of the Lake Associate Pastor/Senior Pastor
Overview
Chapel of the Lake is seeking a dynamic and visionary Associate Pastor to join our church body at the center of one of the fastest growing areas in Missouri. We would desire to see this transition into a Senior Pastor position in 1-2 years. This leader will be responsible for the development and oversight of a comprehensive program of developing and maturing disciples, all with the goal of engaging the congregation in our mission of Proclaiming Christ, Pursuing Christ, and Practicing His Love.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
· Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
· Has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
· Teaches effectively, with a strong Biblical and theological background, and is in agreement with COTL’s vision, beliefs, and distinctives.
· Preaches expositionally, with sermons designed to encourage and exhort the congregation to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to apply biblical truths to their life in meaningful and active ways.
· Possesses a shepherd’s heart and communicates, motivates, and relates well with a multigenerational congregation.
· Understands and clearly communicates the discipleship process and is committed to modeling and facilitating the discipleship process.
· Enables individuals and small groups to become effective mentors in the discipleship process.
· Demonstrates an appreciation for the value of, and a commitment to administrative tasks.
· Demonstrates maturity and responsibility in decision making and work ethic.
· Demonstrates effective leadership skills such as leading by example, delegating, and providing appropriate support for delegated duties.
· Has 10+ years of pastoral experience and is open to becoming a Senior Pastor in the near future.
Associate Pastor Responsibilities:
Demonstrate leadership and ownership of the total mission and body of COTL by:
· Loving and caring for the flock, and demonstrating a personal commitment to their spiritual growth and well-being.
· Providing vision and equipping the congregation to reach our community with the gospel.
· Participating in the worship service on a regular basis by preaching, praying, and leading in communion as needed.
· Demonstrating an interest and general knowledge, and where appropriate, an involvement in the various ministries of the church.
· Participating in counseling individuals and couples as needed and directed by the Senior Pastor.
Discipleship Responsibilities:
· Develop and facilitate a process of discipleship that effectively moves people towards maturity.
· Work directly with the Home Group coordinator and Sunday School Superintendent to maximize the effectiveness of those ministries in the disciple making process.
· Organize and coordinate a broad spectrum of COTL ministries to participate in and enhance the disciple making process.
Expectations:
· Be mentored by the Senior Pastor, remaining accountable and responsive to his oversight of the Discipleship Ministries.
· Present annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the elder board.
· Participate in a yearly job performance review.
· Present a yearly budget proposal for discipleship ministries.
· Stay current with discipleship ministry practices by reading, attending conferences, and/or other continuing education opportunities, etc.

Chapel of the Lake is a non-denominational church serving the community of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri and surrounding counties. We are located about 45 minutes west of downtown St. Louis, MO. We are a congregation of 250-300, who recently celebrated our 50th anniversary of bringing the gospel to our community. St. Charles County has been one of the fastest growing counties in Missouri for the last 20 years.
