Summer Staff Position
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a Christian and be willing to share the Gospel message with youth
· Be a Godly role model willing to love and disciple youth
· Be available to work 8-10 weeks; from Memorial Day weekend to the first week of August (with some exceptions if discussed in advance)
· 18 or older (with some exceptions for HS seniors who are graduating)
· Must be physically active to participate in camp activities
· Willing to work with youth ages 7-15
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Disciple Maker Role – What do I do with Jr Staff?
· Supervise High School aged Jr Staff
· Help co-lead activities with guests, giving the Jr Staff opportunity to practice leadership
· Debrief days with Jr Staff to see what life lessons/Jesus moments they had.
· Be a role-model: show good behavioral skills and allow for life lessons
· Be a missionary: share the love of God through action
· Be a fun-maker: use camp to show abundant life
· Be a team-player: work with other staff in an encouraging environment
Summer Staff Role – How can I help Great Oaks?
· Be a team-player: assist the Host, Kitchen and/or maintenance staff as needed
· Clean bathrooms, bunk rooms and meeting areas in our buildings
· Assist guests with any of the following: archery, arts & crafts, basketball, canoeing, cooperative games, disc golf, fishing, field games, high ropes challenge course, hiking, nature walks, paddleboats, program activities, volleyball, singing, and swimming
· Live out Jesus’ example of washing feet, by being a servant leader.
BENEFITS/ COMPENSATION:
· Small camp with a small close-knit staff structure
· Full summer to build relationships with a few High School students on a deep level.
· Our ministry operates a follow-up ministry which allows youth to be involved year-round with the ministry so as to create discipleship opportunities
· Guaranteed paid salary with fund raising assistance*
· Lodging and meals provided
· Paid training provided
APPLICATION PROCESS:
· Fill out an application at www.greatoakscamp.org/apply
· Provide at least 3 references with at least one being in a minister/pastor position
· A camp representative will call to set up an interview after receiving the application
*all first year staff are paid a weekly rate of $200 a week ,and will be asked to send out letters explaining the ministry as a way of raising support. All money raised will be added to their salary.
