Blue Ridge Bible Church is a non-denominational Bible church located in Purcellville, Virginia, approximately thirty minutes west of Dulles Airport and an hour outside of the nation’s capital. The church is elder led and congregationally ruled in key matters such as pastoral hires, elders, and annual budget approval.The church is led by Senior Pastor Jack Gill, who has served on staff since 2003 and as Senior Pastor for over 20 years. He plans to serve for approximately eight more years and is deeply committed to expository preaching, long term planning, and shepherding the congregation with steady leadership.
Blue Ridge gathers weekly for Sunday worship at 10:15a, with RIDGE Classes offered at 9:00a for in depth biblical instruction and doctrinal grounding. The church currently averages around 300 in weekly attendance, holds one primary worship service, and live streams each week.
The church values biblical instruction, prayer, Christ centered unity, discipleship, gospel outreach, Christian fellowship, family, generosity, and service to the local community. These convictions shape both corporate worship and life beyond Sunday mornings, as Blue Ridge prioritizes spiritual growth through Life Groups and community engagement while holding firmly to the authority of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, the centrality of Christ, and the call to make disciples.
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship Pastor to oversee their worship ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, cultivate, and nurture his own lifestyle of worship and outreach, modeling Christ like character, humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity before the congregation and worship team.
- Lead the congregation in weekly corporate worship services, creating an atmosphere of praise, prayer, and reflection that prioritizes congregational singing over performance.
- Continue to evaluate, implement, and lead in a way that reinforces the understanding that worship is a lifestyle, not merely a Sunday event.
- Select worship songs that reflect the church’s theological convictions, remain fresh and thoughtful, and support both discipleship and evangelistic clarity.
- Work closely with the Senior Pastor and other ministry leaders to plan and coordinate worship services in alignment with sermon series, church calendar, and long term vision.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and disciple musicians, vocalists, and worship volunteers, building toward a sustainable four deep structure in each role.
- Lead rehearsals that foster both musical excellence and spiritual preparation while strengthening unity within the team.
- Oversee scheduling, Planning Center coordination, music licensing, and service preparation to ensure consistency, clarity, and adequate preparation time for volunteers.
- Lead and provide clear direction to the production staff member, ensuring alignment, accountability, and healthy team collaboration.
- Provide directional oversight for sound, lighting, media, and live streaming systems, including conducting equipment inventories, simplifying workflows, and leading long term AVL planning and upgrades.
- Assist with special services and church wide events throughout the year, including holidays and key gatherings.
- Promote a culture of worship within the broader church community by encouraging personal and corporate engagement in worship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear testimony of faith.
- Meets the biblical character qualifications of a pastor and affirms the doctrinal convictions of Blue Ridge Bible Church.
- Strong musical ability vocally and instrumentally, with the capacity to lead a band or ensemble with credibility.
- Demonstrated creative ability to thoughtfully craft worship environments that support discipleship, theological clarity, and congregational engagement without becoming performance driven.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing volunteers in a church or ministry setting.
- Working knowledge of worship software and technology including Planning Center, Ableton, and foundational AVL systems.
- Emotional maturity, relational intelligence, and the ability to align under senior leadership within a congregational governance structure.
- Education
- Bachelor’s strongly preferred.
- Experience
- 3 - 5 years of full-time worship leading experience.
