A Worship Pastor/Music Director leads a church's musical worship, selecting music and directing choirs or praise teams to enhance services. Key responsibilities include planning worship in collaboration with pastors, recruiting volunteers, managing the music budget, and fostering spiritual growth through music. This role requires musical proficiency and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Worship Planning: Select music that compliments a blended style of traditional and contemporary worship.
• Leadership & Direction: Lead congregational singing, direct the adult choir, praise band, and/or ensembles.
• Rehearsals: Schedule and conduct regular rehearsals to prepare music for weekly services, holidays, and special events.
• Recruitment & Development: Recruit, train, and encourage musicians and vocalists within the congregation.
• Administration: Manage the music library, maintain instruments (piano, organ, sound equipment), and develop the annual music budget.
• Special Services: Plan music for weddings, funerals, and holiday services as needed.
• Technological Integration: Often, the role involves working with media teams for audio/visual requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Spiritual Maturity: A deep passion for Christian worship and a commitment to ministry.
• Musical Expertise: Strong vocal and/or instrumental skills.
• Leadership: Ability to lead, inspire, and manage volunteers.
• Communication: Effective interpersonal skills to work with diverse age groups.
• Experience: Previous experience in church music leadership a plus, but not required

Qualifications

• Understanding of diverse musical styles, from traditional to contemporary. 
• Experience in a Southern Baptist Church or like-minded faith organization a plus
