Davis Chinese Christian Church (DCCC) is seeking a full-time male pastor for the English congregation at a growing, trilingual church in Davis, California, a quaint, small town of over 66,000 residents and about 40,000 university students. Home to one of California's largest universities - UC Davis - in Northern California, DCCC is in a prime location, adjacent to the university campus. As part of the trilingual church, the English congregation is approximately 100 people, with about 120 people in the Mandarin and 50 in the Cantonese congregations, respectively (with children, an approximate total of 350 people). The English congregation consists of four primary groups - families, young families, young adults and college students.

The English Pastor will be expected to:

• To preach and teach biblically and reverently:  use sermons to connect people to God, to His truth, to each other, to the world. Teach God’s deeper truths in other activities (e.g. Sunday school, fellowship gatherings, workshops, devotionals, prayer meetings, etc…)

• To be fully vested in the life of the church and its people:   Committing oneself deeply through regular worship, active service, and spiritual growth.  Care for the congregation through actions, counseling (including pre-marital), and visitation.

• To understand and work collectively in a trilingual Chinese-American church: Foster unity between the church leadership (pastors, staff, elders/deacons, fellowship leaders). To lead and/or provide oversight to the church-wide ministries.

• To lead and grow the English congregation: Outreach: campus (students), community (families/evangelism), and missions;  In-reach: Personal growth, discipleship, and leadership training.
  

The Ideal Candidate Should Have the Following Qualifications

Preaching: 

• Able to handle and preach/communicate God’s Word faithfully with integrity & passion (Strong biblical teaching & preaching skills)

Personal: 

• Spiritually stable or mature and growing in faith

• Commitment and passion for God’s calling

• Qualifications of elders/deacons

• Humble and approachable; servant leader’s heart

• Caring and passionate, good interpersonal skills 

• Bicultural experience: understands Chinese-American culture

• Good administrative/organizational skills

• Basic Computer skills: Microsoft Suite and Google workspace.

Ministry: 

• Seminary Graduate (M. Div. preferred, or equivalent)

• Experienced - Pastoral/relevant full-time ministry experience (minimum 5 years); preferably ordained

• Able to develop future church leaders through discipleship and mentoring

• Relates well to various age groups

• Fully engaged to church and its congregation  

He should have an understanding and agreement of DCCC's Statement of Faith. He is expected to be a man of the Word and a man devoted to daily prayers. Being a shepherd of the flock, he is expected to care for the sheep and be ready to train, rebuke, and correct. He should be wise, discerning, tender, and firm. As a leader, he is expected to guard himself from sin and be a man of highest integrity in all aspects of his life.

DCCC Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original manuscripts and authoritative for daily living. We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutionary death for our sins, His bodily resurrection and His second coming.

We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by practice , are sentenced to eternal separation from God and are in need of personal salvation by faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Those who have so trusted in Christ as their Savior as indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God and enabled to live a godly life through submission to Him .

We believe that the church, under the headship of Christ, is a body made up of all born-again persons in this present age.

We believe in the resurrection of the saved unto eternal life.

We believe in the priesthood of all born-again Christians, with equal privilege and duty to serve God.

The leadership of the Holy Spirit is sought and upheld in all services and as such we do not follow any specific ceremonial tradition. In the interest of preserving unity and harmony in the Body of Christ and to focus on the task of the Great Commission, there has been no practice of advocacy of speaking in tongues, healing, and open prophecy in the fellowship meetings and in the church services.
