Christar Church Ministry Residencies bridge the gap between education and effective, real-world service. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, theological training and cross-cultural exposure, residencies offer churches and recent college graduates a framework for developing effective ministry skills, all in the context of relationships.
The Worship Place in Malaga, Spain, is diverse evangelical, English-speaking international church in the heart of the city. We are looking for residents to serve in worship ministry, children's ministry, college/young adult ministry, and pastoral/preaching ministry. A resident would be mentored by an elder and learn what church ministry looks like in a cross-cultural setting. Opportunities to serve at local NGO's, learn Spanish, and take seminary classes online could all be a part of a residency.
A resident would be required to raise individual financial and prayer support, but some funds may be available to assist with housing and other living or ministry expenses.
About The Worship Place:
Established in February of 2020, we are a growing church with various ministries including children’s, youth and young adult ministries. There are many opportunities to serve or be connected throughout the week with men’s and women’s Bible studies and young adults’ weekly meeting and prayer. Additionally, we look for ways to serve our community in supporting and volunteering at local NGOs and through supporting a local youth ministry. We invite you to join us to grow together and serve Jesus as one church body.
Our mission is to establish churches in least-reached communities—those without access to a fellowship of believers that proclaims the gospel in their language and in a culturally relevant way.
We exist because our Savior is worthy of worship, yet over 40% of the world’s people can’t glorify His name because they’re cut off from the good news of Christ. Why? Their communities don’t yet have churches that proclaim the gospel in their language and in a way that’s relevant in their culture.
That’s why Christar seeks to see churches not merely started but firmly established so they can continue to multiply the reach of the gospel long after our workers are gone. As we pursue this mission, we partner with local congregations, helping them send workers “in a manner worthy of God” (3 John 1:6). This involves providing structure that facilitates effective service, strategy that guides their efforts and support that helps them thrive.
We serve among the least-reached Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, refugees and the Deaf around the globe. Our workers are currently ministering in Central Asia, Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, North and West Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.
WHY CHRISTAR?
1. PASSION FOR THE LEAST-REACHED We want those who are without access to the gospel to hear, accept and be transformed by it. Our conviction that every community should have the opportunity to learn of the hope found only in Jesus drives us to embrace challenges and opportunities to bring this good news to those who haven’t yet encountered it.
2. PARTNERSHIP WITH SENDING CHURCHES The church sends missionaries. Christar is blessed to come alongside the local congregations as they take part in God’s global work. We provide structure, strategy and support for churches and individuals who go, send, pray, and give.
3. STRATEGEY FOR ESTABLISHING ENDURING CHURCHES Christar’s primary task is to establish churches that endure and multiply. Workers are trained in a model, known as Polaris, that helps church-planting teams create strategies that fit their ministry contexts. It’s not a one-size-fits-all structure but a framework that helps teams evaluate methods, principles and tactics and form an approach in light of the culture and worldview of the people they’re seeking to reach.
4. TRAINING AND CARE Christar is committed to equipping workers sent by local churches, so they are well-prepared to face challenges on the field and equipped for thriving in life and ministry. Through ongoing training and member care, we foster workers’ health and growth at every stage of their life and ministry.
5. PRAYER We recognize we can’t accomplish the work the Lord calls us to in our own strength. So, Christar values a humble dependence on God, a growing love for Him and a serious commitment to prayer. Every missionary serving with Christar has a team of 100+ people who have committed to praying for them every day.
