Worship Leader

The Role

801 College is the college ministry of Redemption Church in Ogden, Utah. We are building a

student-led worship culture — theologically grounded, excellently executed, and increasingly

owned by students. This is not a performance role. It is a pastoral one.

The Standard: Excellent enough that it doesn’t distract. Intentional enough that it leads. Simple

enough that students can own it eventually.

What You’ll Own

— Plan and lead weekly Midweek worship — set lists, rehearsals, sound check, and post-service

debrief

— Build a theologically sound song culture — scripturally accurate, God-centered, and

congregationally accessible

— Develop student musicians — recruit, coach, and progressively hand off leading to students on

your team

— Serve on Sunday worship at Redemption Church as available

— Support broader 801 College programming — retreats, events, and the annual calendar

What We’re Looking For

Character

— Vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus — not just theological knowledge, but genuine

encounter with God

— Planted in a local church, under pastoral care, known by elders, above reproach

— Handles feedback with humility and pursues growth without being told to

— Someone students genuinely want to follow — not just someone they respect from the stage

Musical Competency

— Proficient on at least one primary instrument; vocally capable of leading a congregation

— Able to communicate musical direction clearly in rehearsal and read a room in real time

— Committed to ongoing musical development

Theological Grounding

— You’re a worship theologian, not just a worship leader — able to explain why we sing what we sing

and identify theological problems in a song

— No seminary degree required, but you must be a student of this

Team Development Orientation

— This role is evaluated not just on what happens on stage, but on whether the people around you are

growing

— If students aren’t being given more responsibility over time, something is wrong

The Development Opportunity

The goal is not for you to lead worship at 801 College forever. The goal is to develop and

eventually oversee student worship leaders who carry the stage with excellence. This is the long

game — and it’s the most important part of the job.

— Year 1: You lead. You set the standard and build the culture. Students see what excellent, gospel-

centered worship looks like.

— Year 2: Students begin co-leading. You coach in real time and debrief after every service.

— Year 3+: Students lead. You oversee, troubleshoot, and shepherd from a coaching posture.

You will have access to training, conferences, coaching conversations, and genuine investment in your

growth as a musician, leader, and person.

Logistics

— Type: Full-time, support-raised staff position

— Support Goal: $36,000/year minimum ($3,000/month)

— Location: Redemption Church, Ogden, Utah

— Schedule: Structured weekly rhythm centered on Thursday Midweek service; weekends include

occasional retreats and major events
