Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (Part Time)
Cornerstone Chinese Church is looking for an energetic Youth & Young Adult Ministry Director to
help with the demanding needs of our growing youth ministry. In 2019, we relocated into a newly
renovated facility in Villa Park which provides greater ministry opportunities in our church’s history.
This is a great opportunity for those interested in engaging with youth and young adults in a ministry
setting as well as gaining wisdom from the Pastors and Elders of the church. This position will work
with and report directly to the English Ministries Pastor at Cornerstone Chinese Church.
Ministry Expectations:
• Schedule ‘Ignite’ youth meetings with the help of counselors and leadership team.\
• Meet with ‘Student Leadership Team’ for the purpose of developing leadership philosophy
and skills.
• Become acquainted with the inner workings of the church and to gain a better
understanding of Cornerstone Chinese Church with the help of pastors and elders.
• Foster relationships with students and young adults in the midst of programs and Bible
studies.
• Build relationships with students; Have relational skills and service orientation.
• Be flexible, takes initiative, self-starter, team player and a problem solver.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment (incl. technology skills and
social media presence).
IGNITE Student Ministry Duties:
• Lead Saturday night youth group meetings for junior high and high school students.
• Support and guide the work of the ‘Ignite’ Youth Committee.
• Build cooperative partnerships with parents of the youth in the ministry, including visitation.
• Work with other youth community ministries when it is determined it will enhance our
church’s youth ministry.
• Prepare the youth to continue their Christian walk as they head into college.
Young Adult Ministry Duties:
• Develop a ministry with regularly scheduled meetings and program activities for our current
young adult base which typically are post-high school and single.
• Follow up with students who are off at college during the school year through phone calls,
video chats, sending care packages, etc.
• Focus on building relationships between the young adults and other groups in the church
through developing strong communication skills.
• Lead college group meetings in the summer and holiday breaks.
Organizational Relationship and Supervision:
• The Intern will be under the authority of the English Pastor from a functional standpoint and
for spiritual/ministry guidance. Will meet with English Pastor on a weekly basis. This person
will also maintain a trusting working relationship with other church staff, the Christian
Education Committee and other related church committees.
• Optional meet with pastors on Thursday mornings for collaboration, coordination and
prayer.
Qualifications:
• Be of good Christian character evidenced by living an exemplary life according to the
Word of God and a commitment to Jesus Christ, shown in part, through active
participation in the life of a church. Candidates must meet the character qualifications
for elder leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-6. Be in total agreement with the
doctrinal statement of the Chinese Bible Church of Oak Park and be willing to abide by
its Constitution and Bylaws.
• Have a passion for ministering to youth and young adults and be able to relate to them
as a friend.
• The candidate must have a college degree. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is the
minimum requirement.
• Possess the skills needed to effectively communicate. You must be fluent in English
and have excellent written and verbal skills.
• Possess the skills needed to manage people and ministry.
• Fluent in oral and written English. Chinese language not required.
Hours/Pay:
$20/hour up to 20 hours/wk.

Cornerstone Chinese Church is an independent, nondenominational church of 150 members
including 20 children and 15 youth located in Villa Park, Illinois (a western suburb of Chicago). We
are a family church with three congregations: English, Mandarin, and Cantonese speaking. Given
present demographics we are anticipating growth in our children and family ministries. We
recognize the critical importance of building a strong foundation and a nurturing ministry for our
children and families as integral to the overall spiritual growth of our church family. We have a
unique blend of cultural heritage and a multi-generational membership that loves one another in
