Connections Pastor – Michigan

A growing congregation of nearly 500 in a suburb of Detroit has an opportunity available for a Connections Pastor. This healthy and expanding church is passionate about helping every person develop a thriving relationship with God. We believe life change happens through Christ, and we are committed to expanding His Kingdom in Taylor, the Downriver area, and beyond.

As our church continues to grow, we recognize that health must be intentional. We are seeking a Connections Pastor who will build clear pathways that help people move from attending to belonging, from belonging to serving, and from serving to leading. This leader will help ensure that no one slips through the cracks and that every person has an opportunity to connect with God through discipleship, connect with others through community, and connect with the church through service.

Position Summary

The Connections Pastor serves as the primary architect of assimilation, discipleship pathways, small groups, and volunteer engagement. This person will oversee systems and leaders that help guests become fully engaged partners of the church family.

They will act as a bridge — connecting people to God, to others, and to the mission of the church.

Responsibilities

Connection & Assimilation

· Develop and implement strategies to connect first-time guests into the life of the church

· Oversee and strengthen the eGroup ministry (small groups), including leader recruitment, training, and care

· Create and manage a clear assimilation pathway from first visit to active involvement

· Lead and refine the volunteer engagement process

· Identify, recruit, and develop ministry leaders

· Oversee partnership/membership classes

Discipleship & Spiritual Formation

· Provide vision and direction for discipleship environments

· Equip individuals with resources and next steps for spiritual growth

· Offer pastoral care and support to individuals and families

· Help build a culture of biblical community and spiritual maturity

Church-Wide Leadership

· Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team

· Collaborate in shaping church vision, strategy, and culture

· Assist in planning and executing church-wide events

· Contribute to strategic planning and ministry evaluation

· Provide pastoral care including hospital visits, counseling, and member support

· Enthusiastically committed to Jesus Christ with a Spirit-led commitment to the Gospel

· Fully aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the church

· A team-oriented leader who builds strong, healthy relationships

· Godly character with the heart of a shepherd

· A clear calling to build disciples and foster biblical community

· Strong relational intelligence and communication skills

· Proven leadership ability (recruiting, training, multiplying leaders)

· Strong organizational and administrative skills

· Strategic thinker who can create, build and improve systems

· Ability to lead volunteers and teams toward measurable goals

· Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

Contenders for this position must be teachable and committed to personal and staff development.

Viable candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead teams that produce measurable results aligned with the church’s mission and objectives. A collaborative, team-oriented culture is deeply valued, and this leader must embody those same characteristics.

A sound knowledge of Scripture is essential for the wisdom and biblically grounded decision-making required in this role. Leading candidates will possess a biblical theology consistent with that of the church and Lead Pastor.
